Hi I'm Courtney Allred

I'm a high school student in Utah. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I have a wonderful family of four consisting of my mom, dad, and little brother Trey who is three years younger than me. I am finishing up my senior year in high school. I love high school and am involved with the school's track and cross country team along with the school's orchestra program. After high school I will be going to run at a Division I college in Utah.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized into the church, along with my mom, when I was eight. Age eight is when you can first be baptized in the LDS church. My dad had been a member of the church when he was a kid and had also been baptized at age eight, but since he had become inactive. My mom had never been a member of the church, but had been a Lutheran growing up. When my parents were married they hadn't decided on a religion. They had investigated many churches together, but they didn't really feel right about any of them. When I was growing up, my family didn't attend any churches. In our neighborhood my parents had many wonderful friends that were members of the church. They were always so kind, welcoming, and accepting to our family. They invited us many times to go to church with them. Our family went and loved it. I loved going to church with my friends and I always had a warm feeling when learning about the teachings of Christ. I knew from a young age that the things I was learning were true.

How I live my faith

Although I am only 17, I have a calling in the church. My calling is first counselor in the young women's 16-18 years olds. I assist the president and I help plan activities and lessons that would be beneficial or fun for my group. I make sure that all the girls feel welcome at church and check up on them when they have been gone. I try to find ways to help serve my friends and help brighten their days.
