Hi I'm Ray

I was born in and have lived most of my life in California.

About Me

I am very happily married to my beautiful wife who has given us four beautiful children, 1 boy and three girls. I love music, playing the piano (amateur), running, biking and exercising. I have great satisfaction in being a principal at a school with grades kindergarten to 8th grade. I enjoy helping others in big and small ways. I love to make things whether woodworking, art or crafts. I love researching my family history and finding out more about where I come from.

Why I am a Mormon

It was 30 years ago that I was converted to the Gospel. Though I had grown up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I hadn't done what every person in or out of this church needs to do- gain a personal witness that it is true. Though I had not done anything seriously wrong, my life path was headed in the wrong direction and was leading me to paths that would cause me to make some life choices that would have lead to some serious consequences that I would regret. I was angry, full of hatred, and selfish. Right before my 18th birthday, I went to a youth conference at the Oakland Temple, which was quite a drive from Eureka. My heart was touched and and I thought back on the things that I had been taught throughout my life. I decided to do what every investigator must do. Read the Book of Mormon and put the promise found in Moroni 10:3-5 to the test. I spent the next three days off from work, reading the Book of Mormon and praying about it. I received my answer! The Holy Ghost testified to me that it is true and it completely changed my heart. It took the anger, hatred and selfishness and changed it to feelings of love and a desire to serve. I wanted everyone else to know what I had just found, and I served as a missionary, spreading the good news. I have had many other experiences where the Holy Ghost has directed me and touched my life. I know without any doubt that Jesus Christ lives and that he is our Savior! I know that this is His Church restored to bless God's children and to help them return back home to Him. I am so happy and blessed, words cannot describe the joy I have because of this knowledge and Church.

How I live my faith

I love to serve others. I serve in the Oakland Temple. I am currently our Ward Sunday School President. I enjoy teaching, though I seem to fulfill more of a leadership role around teaching. I love to visit and help my home teaching families. They have taught me more about love and how to be more like Christ. I do my best to make a positive influence for good in the lives of those I know and strive to see them for their inner beauty and potential and to see them as God sees them.
