Hi I'm Byron

I drive a 1959 Chevrolet Impala; two-door hardtop; 348, six pack and a four speed.

About Me

I was born and raised on a farm in Idaho. I have been married to my childhood sweetheart for forty five years. We have two sons, two daughters and a foster daughter and eleven grandchildren. I served a mission in California (1967-1969) and with my wife in Morristown, New Jersey (2011-2012). I graduated from BYU, farmed, taught family classes at BYU-Idaho, and practice as a marriage and family therapist. I like to travel to see our grandchildren (and children), play golf, exercise and spend time in St. George, Utah. I like classic cars and drive a 1959 Chevrolet Impala; two-door hardtop with a 348, three twos and a four speed.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a fifth-generation Mormon. My parents were faithful Latter-Day Saints. I didn’t think very deeply or seriously about religion until I graduated from high school and contemplated what I would do with my life. I had a feeling that I should serve a mission, thinking that I could find out if the gospel of Jesus Christ and Mormonism were true. During my mission I had many experiences with the Spirit, felt the love of Christ and the joy of serving Him. That deep conversion has been the foundation of my life. I am a Mormon because I believe that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. I come to Christ through grace; by keeping His Priesthood covenants; observing His commandments and loving and serving others. I am a Mormon because I want to bring my family into His presence.

How I live my faith

I believe Jesus Christ is my personal Savior and Redeemer. I seek to know Him and love Him. I strive to keep His commandments, study the scriptures and prophets, keep covenants, worship in the temple, love and serve others and live the principles of the gospel: faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, compassion, kindness, etc. Jesus Christ has made me keenly aware of my sin and weaknesses. He has turned my heart and redeemed me from many of those sins and weaknesses and I believe He continues to redeem me. The words of the Hymn, I Stand All Amazed, express my personal feelings of gratitude for Christ and His atonement: "I stand all amazed at the love Jesus offers me. Confused at the grace that so fully He proffers me.....that He should extend His great love unto such as I: sufficient to own, to redeem and to justify".
