Hi I'm Jennifer

I am currently serving a mission in Cabo Verde. I love reading, music, team sports, running, and cycling. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an avid reader. I love to play the piano and run in the mornings. I ride my bicycle whenever I get the opportunity. If there is any group getting ready to play a team sport, especially one that involves running, I will be there. I am the youngest of five and I love being Auntie Jen to my five nieces and nephews. I am currently deferring from college while I serve a full-time mission in Cape Verde.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have only seen happiness, peace, and truth come as a result of the Church in my life. I have developed a relationship with Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father, and I know that They care about me. In a world full of uncertainty and change, I feel safe and secure because I know I can always rely on this Gospel and the truths it teaches. No matter what, I can turn to the scriptures and I can pray, knowing that as I communicate with God through these means, I will never be led away from Truth. The Gospel of Jesus Christ promises incredible blessings to all those on the earth. We can access all these blessings only through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In my own life, through experiences big and small, I have come to understand the power, light, and knowledge that one can receive as he or she seeks to follow His gospel and to choose the right. Jesus Christ's Atonement brings grace into our lives; He is not only beckoning us from the finish line and guiding us back to the path when we get off, but He is walking alongside us. We can receive strength and power above our own means through faith and through the Atonement. What an incredible blessing. It is incredibly difficult to trust God enough to let go of your own idea of the way things should be in order to learn how He plans to help you achieve your full potential as a child of God. However, I have learned that it is so worth it! There is nothing that is impossible if you trust in God and if you trust Him enough to let go of your plan for yourself and follow His plan for you. You still need to put in your best effort, but God will guide you in more ways than you will fully understand as you try to be like Him and to be who He needs you to be. He will never leave us on our own, either. He always wants us to come back to Him, because we are literally His children and He loves us more than we can comprehend.

How I live my faith

I am sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the people of Cape Verde. It has brought me so much hope, support, and strength. I love to serve others and to bring a smile to another's face. While there is both light and dark in this world, I choose to focus on the light. To me, every day is a good day because there are always good things that happen. Music is an especially powerful tool I use to help me remember the tender mercies of the Lord. There is so much to be grateful for in this life, and there is so much good in this world. I constantly seek to find the good and to acknowledge it, even if it is simply saying "thank you" when someone opens a door for me. I also seek to share my light with others through small acts of kindness and love, often simply through smiling at others and asking about their day. I seek to live by the idea that "by small and simple things are great things brought to pass" (Alma 37:6). One of my favorite books is the Book of Mormon. If I am ever having a rough day or if I am starting to get stressed or feel overwhelmed, I pray to God and read from the Book of Mormon. I have found many answers to personal questions within the pages of that book, and I learn more about Jesus Christ, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit when I read from it. I know They love all of us and They want to help us be the best we can be. As I read the Book of Mormon, I am more able to see why each day is beautiful and I realize more and more how blessed I am. God really does care about us, and He even helps us in the small things. We never need to fear if we trust in Him.
