Hi I'm Cory

I grew up in Utah. I went to school at the University of Utah. I'm a Mormon and I love my Savior, Jesus Christ.

About Me

I work in the supply end of the construction industry and have for 30 years. I have met many wonderful people and have made great friends from those I have worked with. I love to spend time with my wife and children and 2 wonderful grandsons. I love to jog and hike in the mountains. I love skiing and water skiing, although I don't do those as often as I used to but still very much enjoy it. I enjoy the simple things in life, like watching a beautiful sunset or sunrise, going to an uplifting or action packed movie with my wife, eating a good meal at a restaraunt, taking my yellow lab for a walk and playing fetch with him, spending time with friends and visiting and playing games, and most of all playing with my grandsons and spending time with my wife and family and watching my son play sports.

Why I am a Mormon

Although my parents were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when I was born I still had to find my own testimony of the church. I did just that as a young 18 year old man. I new something was missing in my life and it was then that I decided that I needed to serve a mission. I had the awesome experience of serving 18 months in the Chicago Illinois area and met very many wonderful people. I wanted to share what I knew to be true because the spirit testified it to me on numerous occasions. I love my faith and knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It brings freedom and peace to me to know that God still speaks to his children no matter what color, no matter how rich or poor, He loves us all unconditionally and perfectly. He is always willing to answer our prayers and bless us when we need it the most. I'm grateful for prophets and apostles on the earth today that speak truth and wisdom and help us see the lights through the darkness. I'm very grateful for the Book of Mormon and the Bible. They are the word of God and teach us how to live and how to return back to them some day. I'm grateful that the Gospel teaches us where we came from, why we are here on earth, and where we go when we die. It is liberating to know that we will be resurrected because of that great gift of life, and atonement, and resurrection that our Savior gave us freely and willingly. It gives me great comfort to know that my spirit lives on after death and that I can be with my family forever and live in the presence of God if I am an obedient son while hear on this earth. I know I have made mistakes in this life and I will continue to do so, but I also know that I can be forgiven for those mistakes because of the atonement of Jesus Christ. This faith and knowledge that I have can never be taken from me. I would seal it with my own blood just as the late prophet Joseph Smith did. I am grateful for his courage and his love for the Savior as well.

How I live my faith

I have served in many capacities in my church and being in callings with the youth were always my favorite. It was very gratifying to work with the youth in my ward. They are so full of life and have so much energy and are so excited about their future. I think the gospel helps with that attitude. The gospel of Jesus Christ gives so much guidance and direction to better receive the blessings and peace and joy that life has to offer. The example of our Savior, Jesus Christ helps with that. He teaches us that by giving of our time and talents to others will us find joy and happiness in doing so and I promise that is true. The opportunity to sacrifice time for others is very rewarding and somehow Father in Heaven always blesses us more than we can ever hope for when we do good and help others. Keeping God's commandments is another way to ensure happiness. When we stay away from harmful things like drugs and alcohol and surround ourselves with friends that are uplifting we can truly feel a peace and enjoy the spirit in our lives. We need this, as the world can seem dark and sad and the news can bring despair and sorrow and can even make us feel pessimistic about life. But God would rather us see the beautiful things in life, for they are all around us and we ourselves can help spread that beauty and goodness to others by how we act and how we communicate with others. This is what I try to do and I know it makes me feel much better about myself and about life. Helping others in need makes any problem we might have of our own seem much smaller. I'm grateful to a loving Heavenly Father and for His son, Jesus Christ for giving us hope and faith and light to live a much more rewarding and happy life!
