Hi I'm David

I am retired from a long career as a Financial Manager of a large Corporation and am happy to say I am also a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently retired from a large Multi-national Corporation where I last worked as a Financial Manager. I am married and have three children, nine grandchildren, and one great grandchild. My wife and I had the opportunity to serve a two-year Church Mission together a few years ago and that is one of the greatest highlights of our lives. I enjoy writing as a hobby and have written over 30 novels, none of which have been published, but I simply enjoy the creativity of writing.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church and had a Mother who was a member and a father who was not. This caused a lot of conflict in our home and I left when I was seventeen to simply 'get away' from that conflict. I was not active in the Church for the next 22 years but I always knew it was true because I knew that it was the Church our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, established through a prophet, even Joseph Smith. That testimony drove me to want the Gospel in the lives of my wife and children and that drove me back. My family all joined within the next 5 months and the joy it has brought into our home has been the greatest blessing a father could want for his family. I know God The Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, did appear to Joseph Smith. I know because I have received that witness through the power of the Third Member of the Godhead, even the Holy Ghost, who is the testator of all things that are true. Through that witness, it is the same as if I had seen The Father and The Son. I cannot deny that any more than deny that I live and breathe today. I know the Church continued after the death of Joseph Smith and that it continues today as the head of the Church, even Jesus Christ, calls those men, even modern day prophets to lead the work through revelation. I know his church is led by his prophet today, even Thomas S Monson. Anyone can know this for themselves, simply by asking, through humble prayer, if it is true. The Book of Mormon is a witness of Jesus Christ that supports the teachings in the Bible and by reading it, the entirety of the Gospel of Jesus Christ if revealed, not only by the words written on its pages, but by the inspiration of the Holy Ghost as you read and study it message.

How I live my faith

I current serve as a leader of one of the men's groups in our Ward (the name of a local Church Unit). This calling gives me the opportunity to work with the members to coordinate our efforts to reach out to those in need, those that may need spiritual encouragement and guidance and those that are struggling with physical ailments or have other needs where a few extra hands can help lift their burdens. This calling also provides the opportunity for me to visit all the members under my assigned stewardship to help strengthen them and determine how we can best help with life's challenges.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

David
God is an individual and he created us in his image. He is our Father in Heaven and his first born is Jesus Christ. God The Father is his Father as he is our Father. Through his First Born, even Jesus Christ, he created the Earth we live on. It was created so all of his children would have the opportunity to exercise the Agency we enjoyed in the pre-mortal world and come down to the Earth and gain a physical body and determine if we would follow his commandments and the example given by his Son, even Jesus Christ. If we are successful and live to come under the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ through repentance and enduring to the end we will be able to return and dwell with God The Father and with Jesus Christ with an immortal, perfected body, to continue our progression throughout eternity.
