Hi I'm Brenda

I am a single mom, a happy grandma and a retired teacher. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I came to Canada 30 years ago when I was a newly wed and have had one foot in two very different places all my life. My kids are Canadian, my siblings are Americans, and we enjoy the differences. I have been able to retire from teaching after 30 years to babysit my new grandbabies and I am enjoying it. I have lived in remote and rural areas of the beautiful Canadian wilderness and always have had to drive to church, doctors, libraries, movies and grocery stores. Our family has had to make our own fun and live with cold and snow and we find that we love it. Our church associations have kept us grounded no matter where or how often we have moved, even though most of the members have had quite a drive to congregate or even visit with each other.

Why I am a Mormon

I love how God has a plan for all his children, even if they have lived their lives on earth in times and places where they could not know about Christ. The teachings of our church about the opportunities God has provided for all his children to receive the gospel whether or not they have it here on earth makes me so happy because God loves all his children equally and does not overlook any of them or consign them to misery forever. I have never found another faith that comes close to the universality and power and beauty of the beliefs I have as a Latterday Saint. It makes me hopeful and happy every day.

How I live my faith

I have been active in directing community theater, and there have been lots of opportunities at church to do plays, musical numbers, skits and programs with teenagers and children. This has provided music opportunities for me and a chance to make friends with parents of teenagers who were the same age as my kids. By teaching classes in the church, making music and drama for fun, and building those friendships it has helped to keep our family strong in the faith. Jesus Christ and his huge love for us and his plan for our eternal life is so strengthening, and being active with others in church helps us to attend our meetings and keep Him top of mind and heart.
