Hi I'm Paul Simmons

I played college baseball for Univ. of Utah and UVU. I invented the GAME GEAR sportswear brand. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm the oldest of 6 kids. I grew up loving baseball and basketball. I was able to play in the Western Regional Little League World Series when I was 12 years old. I was able to play high school baseball and basketball. I picked good friends and had a good high school experience. I was the only baseball pitcher in the state of Utah to be named First Team All-State in 1988. I ended up playing my first year with the University of Utah on a baseball scholarship. I had some great experiences and learned the physical and mental challenges of college sports. I decided after my freshman year of college that I would turn down a professional contract with the Baltimore Orioles and serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I felt that I needed to give something back to the Lord for the sacrifice he made on my behalf. I served a 2 year mission to Winnipeg, Canada. I love the Canadian people and got to travel over a lot of beautiful Canada. After my mission I decided to play baseball for what is now UVU in Orem, UT. I made some great friends and enjoyed school. My mom met a woman at a gas station while I was on my mission and got her phone number. I ended up marrying that girl in the Salt Lake Temple by the sealing power of the Melchizedek Priesthood for time and all eternity. I graduated from the University of Utah. I have 3 wonderful, active children. I sell real estate software and am thankful for my many blessings. I am blessed!!!!!

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized by my father by immersion and became a Mormon (Member of the Church or Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) at age 8. I felt that my dad had the proper Melchizedek Priesthood authority to baptize me. After my baptism I was asked to receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands, by my dad. I felt that what my father and mom were teaching me were true principles and my decision to be baptized was the correct decision (John 3:5 KJV. Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God). I grew up going to church and learning the Holy Bible (KJV), Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price. The reason I'm a Mormon isn't because it was the family religion and I was baptized at 8. I'm a Mormon/Latter-Day Saint because of what happened to me when I was 19 years old. Jesus said to Peter....and when thou art CONVERTED strengthen thy brethren (Luke 22:32 KJV). I was converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I read the Book of Mormon and prayed and asked God specifically if the book was the word of God and if Joseph Smith, who translated it, was a Prophet of God. I wanted to know from my Heavenly Father, if the book I just read was scripture. When I prayed to God this particular time, I didn't know how he would answer my prayer, but I had the faith that he would answer my sincere prayer. After I finished my prayer, I got into bed and about a minute later I was overcome by the sweetest, warmest, most loving feeling that I have ever felt. I was enveloped by what I would call the Holy Spirit. I have felt the Holy Spirit before because he bears record of the truth, but this experience was powerful and special. I felt so warm and every particle of my body seemed to be experiencing something so sacred it's hard to describe. I know the Book of Mormon is scripture and Joseph Smith is a Prophet of God.

How I live my faith

One of the great things about being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is all the wonderful opportunities you have serving as a non-paid volunteer in our local congregations called "wards." I have served with the young men as a Scout Leader and other church callings. I have served with the men in many church capacities. I try to be a good example to my neighbors and my co-workers. I have coached local sports teams in soccer, baseball, softball and basketball. Coaching is a way I feel I can serve in the community. I have also tried to be active in politics in helping my state as a former state delegate. I have tried to keep myself healthy and clean according to what I understand. I have never smoked, drank an alcoholic beverage or done illegal drugs. I felt it was right to be a virgin when I got married. I try to live my faith in accordance with the teachings of my Savior Jesus Christ. I know someday I will bow at his presence and be judged according to my works.
