Hi I'm Krista

I'm a 15 generation New Mexican. I 'm a non-profit executive. I'm a student and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy people. People make the world go round. I appreciate our differences and build on our commonalities. I try to always look at the bigger picture -- for me as a person and for the community in which I live. I believe in hard work, sacrifice and honesty. I find that as I get to know people, I take their positive qualities and work to implement them in my life. I grew up with a single mom and 4 other siblings. I've been blessed by a strong extended family. We're known to jump in and get the job done when things get tough. As a kid, we were considered poor, but my mom taught us the value of hard work and integrity. I have all sorts of hobbies. I spend time with my sister estate sale shopping. I like to find little treasures. I enjoy reading, politics, hiking, camping and the water. I'm a non-profit executive of a non profit, which affords me the opportunity to meet really tremendous people.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it makes sense to me. Mormonism is practical, yet spiritual. I see how the principles and doctrines that are taught speak to both my heart and mind. We are taught to be self reliant and to be a people who does good. We're taught to leave our burdens at the feet of the Savior, Jesus Christ. I saw my mom exercise more faith in God as she struggled to keep food on the table. I know it was because of her faith and obedience that our little family was blessed. Her faith caused me to search out my own truth. I studied, prayed and continue to try to live in a way that my Heavenly Father would be happy with. I fall down a lot, but know that if I'm sincere, I can ask for forgiveness. I know that God is the same yesterday, today and forever. If he called prophets in olden time, then why not now? I think we need more help. I love the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I know Jesus Christ is my Savior. We're given the greatest gift -- to be able to make choices and be responsible for the consequences (good or bad). This is why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

At church, I get to teach the five and six year olds. Right now my class is an all boy class. They really are adorable and thoughtful. As I teach them about being sons of God, they teach me about being humble and teachable. I've had several church assignments over the years and each one is just as important as the next. My goal is to prepare a lesson with a prayer in my heart that I can create an environment in which my class can feel that sweet small voice.
