Hi I'm Laura

I grew up mostly in Idaho. I love languages. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm a college student. I returned from a four month stay in China, where I taught English to grade schoolers, about a year ago. I study linguistics, so I love languages and different modes of communication. I like to paint, I play the violin and soccer, I love hiking and being outdoors, and I love a good book!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church, so it was always a no brainer when I was younger. Once I started getting a little older, though, I started having to decide for myself whether or not if I was going to keep going. There were lots of things I knew about the church, but starting in my teens I really started to try to believe what I knew. I prayed about it a lot and still do. I believe in God and I believe in Jesus Christ and I believe in the Holy Ghost. I believe that just because I can't see them doesn't mean they aren't real. I like to think of it as not being able to see colors beyond the human visible spectrum, but still knowing they're there. I believe that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the church of God. I know God loves us. We are his children and he loves. And I love him.

How I live my faith

I do my best to get to know people in my ward by just being friends with them. I help organize a group that meets once a week to socialize and share our experiences. I go to my meetings and try to participate whenever I can by speaking, teaching, or praying in our congregation.

What do Mormons believe about family?

The Church believes the family is the basic building block of society. We believe that by strengthening the family, we strengthen the world. Show more Show less
