Hi I'm Shawna Sharp

I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on February 3, 2013

About Me

I enjoy reading and writing. I love going on walks by rivers and lakes or ponds, along side taking walks in forests and national parks.

Why I am a Mormon

I could tell you that I am a Mormon because I know that The Book of Mormon is true. Or that the gospel shared in this church brings happiness into my life that I didn't see before I joined this church. But for me it's more than that. One Friday in November 2012, I was hanging out with some friends and I decided I wanted to go to church again. But not the church I grew up in because I felt that it didn't answer all of my questions. After praying about it for a few days I looked at one of my friends and asked them to bring me to their church. They were new in town and the concept of a church that was the same regardless of where you traveled to sounded amazing to me. The Sunday that I first entered the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was something I didn't expect. Everyone was friendly and I felt a peace in the building that I didn't feel before. That night, I came onto Mormon.org because I didn't want to wait for the missionaries in my area to start telling me what they knew. As the conversations with the missionaries went on more and more of my childhood questions got answered. When January rolled around I knew with no doubts that The Church of Jesus Christ was indeed Christs Church restored to earth once more through Joseph Smith. When I was asked if I wanted to get baptized I said no. I was afraid of the commitment and was worried about what others would think. But I continued to think about it, one night in January I kneeled down and prayed. I asked God what he wanted me to do, for I already knew my plan but I realized he had a bigger plan for me than I did. So I prayed and than opened the Scriptures. The verse I opened to read "If ye know these things are true, what do you have against being baptized" I cried knowing that Heavenly Father loves me and that he wanted me to join this church. I am a Mormon because I know that The Book of Mormon is true, and that it has given my life a peace and happiness that wasn't there before.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through prayer, reading the scriptures and following the commandments. I also love helping people so I show my faith through helping others and giving them a hand.
