Hi I'm Matt

I grew up in Idaho. I served a mission in Guatemala. I love tennis. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently studying Healthcare Administration and will be done in about a year. I love playing tennis and spending time with my wife. I also enjoy reading, watching movies and being with family. It has always been my dream to buy a sail boat and sail around the Caribbean. Technology fascinates me and I try to keep up to date on the latest gadgets; especially cell phones.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I grew up in a family that was LDS, I had plenty of opportunities to choose for myself whether or not I wanted to be a Mormon. I remember in my teenage years, I became incredibly interested in other religions. To me, the LDS church had always made sense and in my naive mind, I wanted to understand why the rest of the world didn't see the same logic in the Mormon Church that I did. Luckily, I grew out of that idea pretty quickly as I realized the incredible blessings that other churches were in the lives of others. I came to understand that other churches also have a great deal of truth and I gained an appreciation for all the good that they do in the lives of their members. As I sought to be more open-minded about other religions, God helped me to recognize the many similarities that the LDS church shares with other Christian organizations. I also gained a greater appreciation for the blessings that were lost after Christ's death but that God has restored to the earth as a part of the LDS church. I believe that God grants us understanding if we study and pray for His help to understand His gospel. That's one of the many things He does for me!

How I live my faith

I love living the Gospel of Christ. For many people, trying to be like Christ can be such an abstract, impossible notion. But I am grateful that God spends His time helping me improve myself in order to better serve Him. I become better as I try my hardest to study the Bible and the Book of Mormon; looking for examples that I can emulate to change selfish attitudes and behaviors. One of the greatest experiences of my life that really helped me gain a better and more fulfilling perspective on life was serving a church mission in Guatemala. As I tried my hardest to serve others as Christ did, even though I always fell short, I was able to witness and take part in miracles. I learned that there are miracles that happen all around us, especially when we are going through hard times.
