Hi I'm Jeff Russell

I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and grew up in Kearns, Utah. The most important thing in my life is my family and Jesus Christ

About Me

I am 60 years old. Some of my hobbies are golf, coin collecting, and pigeon raising (although I am unable to do that at this time.) I am a father of 4 daughters, 5 grandchildren with 1 more on the way. I have 2 brothers and 5 sisters. Both of my parents are still living. My father is 82 and mom is 78. My ancestors came from England and settled in Southern Utah in a town that is now part of the Utah historic sites - Grafton, Utah. When my great great grandfather came to Utah long before it was a state he was asked by Brigham Young, the prophet of the LDS church to go to southern Utah and settle. My grandfather replay "I didn't come all the way from England to follow a prophet of God and now change my mind so he took his family and settled with 4 other families the town of Grafton, Utah. I am grateful for the example of my ancestors and strive to follow there hard work life style. For the past 36 years I have sold furniture and in so doing this have traveled a 5 state area and worked with hundreds of wonderful furniture dealer - friends. I love living in Utah.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 18, although I had been raised in the Church all my life I felt I didn't really have a firm conviction of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon as divine scripture like the Bible. I was preparing to serve a mission for the Church. I felt if I was going to go out and tell people I believed the Church was true and ask them to listen to me and ask them to join the Mormon Church I really needed to know if the Book of Mormon was true and Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. I then took the time to really read with a strong desire to know if it was true. After some reading and earnest prayer I received a sure witness that Heavenly Father knew me and the Book of Mormon was the word of God and Joseph Smith was a prophet like unto Moses. I then felt as I do now that I can tell people the gospel is true and Jesus Christ is the Son of God. That he loves us and that his Atonement is real. All men can find this out through study and earnest prayer, if they have a desire they were receive an answer. The answer I received is why I am a Mormon. It is now part of my very being.

How I live my faith

I have had the opportunity serve in the West Jordan city council on a planning committee for 2 years. I also really enjoy helping my friends and neighbors with various projects. I have also been involved with the Boy Scouts of America for most of my life. I am an Eagle scout and appreciate the values I have learned from that great youth organization. I have also helped organize in my neighborhood 4th of July breakfasts, Christmas sing alongs, neighborhood barbeques, many eagle scout service projects for young men in our scout troop, Christmas goodie baskets for the singles (about 30 for the past few years). I am a firm believer that when we serve others we show our love for God. All my life I have also had the opportunity to visit friends and neighbors through the wonderful program of Home Teaching found within the LDS Church. This is an opportunity to serve others one on one.
