Hi I'm Nicole Turner

I love sports and the outdoors. I study mathematics. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a town that sprang from a farming community in the mountains of Utah. Though we lived close to larger cities, as a kid there wasn't a lot to do there. I think that helped me develop an appreciation for nature and also a love for games and sports. We had to be able to entertain ourselves, and those are the things that have stayed with me even until now. I love to play sports, rock climb, hike, camp, cross country ski, ect. I've also come to enjoy hosting parties and cooking dinners for friends. Recently some friends and I have formed a band and enjoy any opportunity we get to play our unique style of music. (We have a guitar, ukulele, accordion, and violin in our band. It's awesome!) I also love spending time with my family and babysitting my nieces and nephews. I'm currently working on my Master's degree in Mathematics. My focus is Graph Theory and Combinatorics. When I'm done I hope to get a job teaching. I also really like learning about other cultures and I'd like to be able to travel the world. I served a mission in the Philippines and speak Tagalog. I loved learning about their culture and language and hope I get the chance to experience that more in other parts of the world. Who knows, maybe I can travel the world teaching math one day.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because in it I find hope. I have studied the teachings of the prophets in the scriptures as well as modern prophets and I know they are true. I especially believe that our life here on earth is just a step in our Heavenly Father's eternal plan for us. We are sent here to earth to learn and to grow while out of his presence so that we may become who we need to be in order to receive all that He has for us. I know that this life has purpose and meaning, and in this church I know exactly what that purpose is and how to fulfill it. Knowing this allows me to trust in the Lord and live my life with optimism and flexibility. I do not have to spend my days with a troubled heart and hurt or anger because I know that my Heavenly Father is real, that Jesus Christ made our return to Him possible, and that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ all things will be made right. Life is not perfect and I don't always know exactly what direction I should take in my life, but I know that as I do my best to follow Christ things will work out and I can be a force for good in the world- even if just to those around me each day. This gospel gives me perspective, and my perspective gives me happiness and peace.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying each day to be the sort of disciple Christ would be proud of. I strive to read the scriptures and pray every day to better understand His will for me and how I can serve others that day. I enjoy attending church services each week and having my faith strengthened and knowledge expanded by the words of my peers. I attend a ward specifically for young single adults and currently am in charge of the activities committee for our ward. This is an important responsibility to me because activities are such a big part of our lives as young single adults. We're able to provide opportunities for people to meet new friends and also reach out to others in our lives to share the truth we have with them in a fun and wholesome atmosphere.
