Hi I'm Chancey Trentman

I've grown up in Auburn, California. I'm going on a two year mission to Korea. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ in Latter-day Saints, serving in Busan, South Korea. I was born to two LDS parents and have five other siblings. After my mission I will attend Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. I love playing sports; I've been on a baseball, basketball, football, and soccer team. I also enjoy golfing, alpine skiing, water skiing, wake boarding, and cycling. I love music. I've had the chance to learn to play several different instruments and love to spend time playing each of them. Time with friends and family is always a blast and travelling with either is even better.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into an LDS family, so naturally, my whole life I've grown up in and around Mormon teachings and religion. For as long as I can remember both of my parents have encouraged me to find out for myself if the Mormon religion is the true church of God. I have always believed in God and in His son Jesus Christ. They are as real to me as anything else on this earth. But I haven't always known that their true church on this earth is the Mormon Church. Only through consistent study of the Book of Mormon, sincere prayer to God, and a desire to find truth have I come to know, without a doubt, that the Mormon church is God's church upon the earth. Joseph Smith truly did see my Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. I believe with all my heart that they restored their church on this earth through Joseph Smith. The Book of Mormon is the word of God, translated by God's power and under His direction. The Mormon Church as it is organized today is Christ's church restored upon the earth. There is a modern day prophet, Thomas S. Monson, who is at the head of that church and in direct communication with God. When we realize just what a blessing a modern day prophet is and all the wonderful opportunities that come with knowing that, it makes all the sense in the world to be apart of this church and follow its teachings: the teachings of God. There is nothing that will bring us greater happiness in this life than following the teachings, principles, and guidelines of this church. The Mormon Church truly is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am so grateful for that knowledge which I have been given. It means everything to me.

How I live my faith

I'm a member of my ward's Priest Quorum which is a group of sixteen to eighteen. We do lots of fun activities, service projects, and spiritual lessons together. This summer we plan to climb Half Dome in Yosemite National Park as a group. Every morning before school I attend Seminary which is a Mormon class held at our church that teaches us about the Bible and Book of Mormon. It's pretty early, starting at 6:20, but it's been a great blessing in my life. Besides attending Church every Sunday or Seminary every morning, I try to live my faith by living like Jesus Christ did. I try to think how he would handle the different situations I'm confronted with and then act the same as He would. Sometimes that can be a challenge, but I know that if I can live by the basic principles He not only taught but exemplified, I can be happier knowing I'm doing what He wants. The more I act like my Savior Jesus Christ, the happier I am.

What is faith?

Chancey Trentman
To have faith is to “hope for things which are not seen, which are true”. Faith is when you can't see what you believe. I've never seen God or Jesus Christ, but I know that I've felt their presence in my life. Show more Show less
