Hi I'm Sam Storms

I grew up in Colorado and Utah. I am serving in the New York Rochester Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Utah but I moved to Colorado when I was about 4 years old. I moved back to Utah when I was 13 years old so I was going into 8th grade. My hobbies include Family History, being with friends, playing the violin and ukulele, and doing things that make me happy! I attended Snow College for one year and now I'm serving in the New York Rochester Mission which covers the Peter Whitmer Farm, Hill Cumorah, Sacred Grove, Book of Mormon Publication Site, and the Smith Family Farm. I love talking to people and helping them feel the Spirit at these church history sites!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church. I come from a long line of members but I had to convert myself. I am very blessed to have parents who are very active in the church and have strong testimonies. For awhile I could depend on my parents testimonies, but once I started getting older and had to make my own decisions, I couldn't depend on my parents. I had to gain a testimony of the Book of Mormon. I've always known it was true and this gospel is true, but I wanted to have a deep anchor in it so I couldn't be swayed. I didn't have one huge spiritual experience nor did I get a vision. Consist prayer and reading the Book of Mormon and rereading it again has anchored my testimony. I know of its truth. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the only true church here upon the earth. I know that Joseph Smith restored this gospel through revelation and I am so grateful for all the hardships him and the early saints endured so that we are all able to find joy in this gospel. I know Jesus is the Christ and he Atoned for our sins. He loves us so much and knew that the only possible way for us to return back to him and our Father in Heaven was for him to die for us. No matter how for you've gone off the path or how many mistakes you've made, Heavenly Father will always love us and through the Atonement, we can once again feel joy and happiness. I know that temples and the ordinances performed in them are inspired and they perform so many miracles. Heavenly Father gave us the Plan of Salvation so that we might be heirs to His kingdom and receive eternal life and be with the ones we love for all eternity. I testify that this life isn't the end. It is the beginning. I know these things to be true in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I attend church every Sunday and love every minute of it. My calling in my ward was a Ward Missionary. In my calling I pretty much become friends with everyone and anyone. It's really opened my eyes to what service is all about. I love going to the temple often because it is the House of the Lord and I love doing ordinances for people who have left this life. As missionaries, we visit nonmembers, and members of our faith. We invite them to come unto Christ and realize that Heavenly Father has a plan for them.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Sam Storms
This is such a simple question and is so simple to answer! God is everywhere. He's the creator of our worlds and many other worlds. Our bodies work so perfectly together that there must be some supreme being who created us in the likeness of his own image. He created everything. Every little bug to the big lion. Every valley to every mountain. Our earth is beautiful. He wanted us to live in such a wonderful place. Another thing that tells me there is a God is through prayer. When I pray I feel warmth and comfort that cannot come if I wasn't speaking with my Heavenly Father. He's there and always will be. Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Sam Storms
Not everyone is required to serve a mission. It is something that is between Heavenly Father and the person. Girls aren't required to serve mission but boys are really encouraged to go. All members can be missionaries in their own way. Full-time missionaries give all their time for 18 or 24 months, but members can be missionaries! When members share the gospel with others, they show how much they appreciate the gospel and it strengthens their own testimony. It is an amazing opportunity to set aside time for 18 months and completely dedicate all our efforts and time to preaching the gospel to anyone that will hear. Missions are amazing!
