Hi I'm Cliff

I was born, raised and live in Utah. I love learning about vintage American cars. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am happily married and have two wonderful young children. I am passionate about old American cars and their histories, from the teens to the 1960s. I have been fortunate enough to learn complete restoration; welding, fabrication, bodywork, paint, upholstery, etc. I also love older manual machine tools and enjoy learning machinist skills at home. Currently I'm learning on (and fixing!) my manual lathes and milling machines, and I have been able to fabricate many of the parts they need. Very rewarding! I also enjoy fine art, especially figure drawing, painting and sketching. I am very fond of American guitars, and I love to play the Telecaster, Scott Walker Guitar or Les Paul along side a Buck Owens CD! Very enjoyable to jam with friends, improvising, or to play acoustic duos with my wife. I enjoy fly fishing streams and lakes for trout, especially the Brown Trout which I grew up around. I love to fish the Green River below Flaming Gorge, and Island Park in Idaho. I love to fish streamers (and tie them to imitate injured minnows) as well as big terrestrials like grasshoppers and stoneflies.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a "Mormon" because I have been shown this church is true by real, actual spiritual experiences. And believe me, I am overly skeptical of what I call testimony sob stories or churchy sales pitches! My skeptical attitude has helped me avoid lots of dangerous things, but has also been an hindrance to spiritual experiences in my life, mainly because I have mistakenly viewed God as only a stern God. Thankfully He has given me merciful, legitimate, real spiritual witnesses that even left no room for my skepticism! This has strengthened me greatly, and reminds me of the giant mercies God has given me.

How I live my faith

I help with teaching, organization and activities regarding the boys in my local congregation. We take the boys to complete service activities, learn about careers, go fishing, camping or just grab a pizza. I try to help them realize the importance of Jesus Christ and following Him. I also like to instill confidence in them, especially that education (formal and personal) is super important. I love to show the boys that we can learn to do amazing things by simply jumping in and trying, learning as we go.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No!!! If we did, we would not be living the doctrine of Jesus Christ that Joseph Smith ultimately was martyred for. Of course we don't worship Joseph Smith; we worship God and Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

Absolutely NOT! And it in Utah it is easy to think otherwise. Show more Show less
