Hi I'm Avanlee

I am passionate about preforming arts. I enjoy getting to know new people from all over the country. I am a Mormon!

About Me

I am a social butterfly who loves getting out and trying new things! I move around quite frequently and find comfort in having friends all over the country. Before I die, I want to scuba dive, skydive, and climb a 14 thousand foot mountain. I am preparing now to go on a Latter-Day Saint mission to Asuncion, Paraguay. My large family of seven and I are huge BYU Cougar fans where I also attend school. I am planning on majoring in political science with a focus in nonprofit organizations while also minoring in Spanish. I am passionate about music; I play the piano and flute, participated in my high school's nationally ranked competitive show choir, sing, have started picking up guitar (which I need a lot of help on), and dance. I would love to be on BYU's ballroom team. I am a perfectionist in everything I do, which can be a curse and a blessing at times! I can never resist a delicious bowl of vanilla ice cream or a steaming plate of homemade chicken and mashed potatoes. My two favorite places to visit are the soft rolling mountains of Virginia during the fall and any sandy beach during the summer. My greatest goal in life is to be someone who I am proud to be; a dedicated member of my church, family, and country.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it makes me happy. I know who I was, who I am, and who I can become. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints gives me a home where I can feel wanted, appreciate, needed, loved, and purposeful. Knowing that I am a daughter of my Heavenly Father gives me determination to be the best I can be. With so much confusion and different opinions of life in the world, being Mormon has helped me sort out all those questions. It has given me a greater outlook on life. Now I understand the big picture. I have a testimony of the church and this gospel. When trials come my way, I know that Jesus Christ is there to pick me up and lead me in the right direction. He has created the one narrow path through life, that if followed, steers clear of the pitfalls of the world. I know Jesus Christ is my savior who loved God's children so much, that he would come to earth in a lowly stable with a manger for a bed, live a life of service, and then sacrifice himself for all of us. He felt every pain and sickness and sorrow and sin so he could know how to help us. I have a testimony that he loves and knows me personally. Jesus Christ is my God, my savior, my teacher, my exemplar, my brother, my comforter, and my best friend. I am a Mormon. I know it, I live it, and I love it.

How I live my faith

I am a firm believer that I have been so blessed in my life for a reason -- that reason being to serve those around me in any way I can and give up of my substance and myself. Saying that, I don't just live my faith on Sunday when I go to church, but rather try my very best to live a faith filled life every day of the week. I love to serve and because of this, I am very excited to give a year and a half of my life to the people of Paraguay and eventually devote my energies to nonprofit humanitarian aid. I live my faith by striving to share light and hope in a world that grows increasingly dark.
