Hi I'm Kelly Randall Ricketts

I was born on Vancouver Island in 1955, one of 8 children, and Love Physical Challenges

About Me

A native of British Columbia, Canada; I have lived in most parts of the province and worked as a Logger, Underground Miner, Hunting & Fishing Guide, Bouncer, Welder/Fabricator as well as a Singer/Songwriter. I was given my first guitar at the age of eight and music has been a big part of my life ever since. As a young boy I stuttered and, as sometimes happens in large families, it was hard to be heard amongst all the other voices vying for attention. I soon discovered however, that if I sang about what I was feeling, the stuttering stopped and people would actually listen. The music and songwriting started out as a way to be heard and express my innermost feelings, it soon became a valuable companion, as I grew through a troubled and challenging childhood. Leaving home at 14, I found employment working in a man's world and was able to hold my own. This early introduction into manhood, unfortunately was the catalyst to being married at 16 years of age, to a woman 9 years my senior. I struggled with my marriage, which would last 6 years. I Have been involved in high level Sports including Boxing at the National Level, As a Provincial Champion and an Olympic Trials Boxer in 1988/ Hockey Player/National Masters Champion in Track & Field and All Star Pitcher. . 3 years after becoming a member (Mormon), I met my Eternal Companion, Ingrid Nelson. For the first time in my life, I was truly in love with the Women I was to share my life and Eternity with.

Why I am a Mormon

One Saturday afternoon in October of 1984, and as a single parent, I felt that there was an emptiness in my life, along with many questions I had about my Mortality, purpose and what eternal existence really meant. I knelt by my couch and offered a prayer to God, asking what my purpose was to be and why was I here? unknowing at the time, it was similar to the question asked by The Prophet Joseph Smith Jr. as a 14 year old child I resolved to pursue more fully the answers that I sought, of which I could not find with my previous religious affiliations, I openly explored other beliefs, with a sincere willingness to believe what was taught. With no success I resolved that I was back to where I started. Then the day that started my road to the Full Truth I sought, came to pass when two Elders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Elders Hokanson and Butters knocked on my door and introduced the Holy Spirit and the Power of the Priesthood of God, not in words, as they were forbidden by me to talk about their beliefs, but by their mere presence and the Powerful Spirit I felt, especially when they left my home, I could sense that Power leave with them. Two weeks later I decided I needed to know about what they believed and feel that awesome Spirit and Power I felt after our first meeting. I phoned the local Branch on a Sunday Morning, after talking to the Branch President, and finding out that the Elders were transferred and after talking to a Sister Missionary,Sister Michelle (Favero)Bennett, I reluctantly allowed them to come and teach me the Gospel. After two discussions with Sisters Favero and Harris, I finally found Answers to some of my most important questions. I then Knew that this was Gods Only true and Living Gospel on the Face of this Earth. The more I learned, Prayed and studied, the more my Testimony Grew. I only had one option in my mind, Repent, be Baptized and Live the Truth. I Did and Still Am. I Am A Mormon!

How I live my faith

I own my own Boxing and Fitness Gym "Zeus Fight Science" and besides helping people reach the physical goals they seek, The gospel of Jesus Christ and the principles of this Restored gospel is shared with our members, especially as it pertains to the Word of Wisdom. We have had many of our incredible members quit Drinking Alcohol, and even the use of Caffeine, Quit Smoking and acquire far better dietary habits, and higher standards than they may once have held. Book Of Mormons in fact sit openly in our Gym for Members to take if they so choose, at the very least, to make certain they know where I and My Family stand on our Religious Beliefs. I am the Branch Mission Leader, and have always felt that was something that brought me the most fulfillment, as I have served in many different callings in the Church. Only second to that, was my time as a Young Men's Leader. Teaching the gospel and having the opportunity to Baptize or witness the Baptism of those who I taught with the Full time Missionary's, is an Incredibly fulfilling experience. I know that at times, I can be very outspoken about my beliefs and Ideology, however I try to live my Faith the very best I can, in and out of the Gym, that I may stand as an Ensign to the World. People who know me well, know it is because I and my family really do Care about them, and want them to find the same great blessings the Gospel has to offer, those who seek for real purpose and happiness.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Kelly Randall Ricketts
The Word Of Wisdom is a critical part of my beliefs not my Pet belief but critical nonetheless. I know through working with my clients in our Gym, that as they adapt the Word Of Wisdom into there lives, and not necessarily as a religious purpose, they do have better emotional and Self esteem feelings and I believe also promote a Spiritual increase for Good.
