Hi I'm Mike

I am the youngest of 9 kids. I am an identical twin. I am married with no kids(yet), and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I come from a big family. I have 4 brothers and 4 sisters all of whom are married and have kids. I am the youngest of the 9 kids and have been married for over 3 years. We currently do not have any kids but plan on starting that journey in the near future. I recently got my bachelors degree in Communicative Disorders and am applying to masters programs throughout the United States. My wife is currently completing her Bachelors in Nursing. I LOVE sports. I love watching basketball, football, baseball and soccer(world cup). I enjoy working out with weights and cardio to keep in shape and also do the occasional big hike. Me and my wife have hiked in the Grand Canyon and also Mt. Baldy as of recent.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I have grown to learn and know that the church is true through personal experiences throughout my life. I was born into a family who went to the LDS church weekly as I was growing up. We attended church in Southern California where I was raised form age 5 on. When I was growing up I learned the basics of the teachings of the Gospel at church and from my parents but I had to personally find out for myself if I knew them to be true. When I turned 19 I prepared to go on a mission as 3 of my older brothers did and one of my older sisters. I knew enough for myself at that time that I knew going on a mission was the right thing to do for myself. I served a mission in central Brazil for 2 years. I was able to put into practice the teachings of the gospel on a daily basis and find results to see if the teachings were true. I came to find out that the Book of Mormon is the word of God to his people in the Ancient Americas as the Bible is the word of God to the people who were living in Israel. I know that God is a loving Father of our spirits and that we lived with Him before coming to this earth. I know that he created a plan for us to come to this earth and to be tested and learn and grow and experience al that he had. I know that he sent His Son to this earth to be our exemplar and to atone for our sins and die for us. I know that He was resurrected so that one day we all could be resurrected as well and return to live with Him and God, Our Eternal Father in Heaven. I know that Joseph Smith restored God's true gospel and church to the earth. Since my mission I have put into practice the principles and teachings of the restored Gospel and have found joy in my life as I followed the Savior and my Father in Heavens plan for me.

How I live my faith

I currently serve as my church's executive secretary. When members of the church would like an appointment to meet with the Bishop, they call me and I set up a time to meet with him. I participate in weekly sunday morning meetings for 2 hours before our normal 3 hour church service begins. I also teach lessons on gospel topics to the men from age 18-60 in the church on a monthly basis.

What is being a Mormon like?

Throughout my life, being Mormon has always been what defines me in school relationships, jobs, etc. When a co-worker, friend, stranger finds out through conversation that I am Mormon, they always expect a certain level of integrity, genuine care for others, and strong moral beliefs. When others know I am Mormon, they almost always respect my beliefs by sticking up for me in certain moral situations or they will not talk with me about things they know would be inappropriate.
