Hi I'm Joe Virga

I'm a backcountry skier. I'm a Jeep enthusiast. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a full-time college student, but I'm about to take two years away from school and life as I know it to be a missionary. I love spending as much time as possible outdoors particularly in the snow. I'm a backcountry skier and I'll always be willing to wake up early and drive far just to get to some fresh powder. Music is also an important part of my life. I DJ EDM music, play the piano and guitar, and love it all.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I had to become converted to it on my own. As a child and teenager I always believed it was true, but I hadn't really found out for myself. I didn't think much about it because it had been all I'd ever known. The time came for me to begin contemplating serving a mission. As I did so, I knew that I'd need to bear testimony to others of the things that I knew to be true. I began to take my scripture study, church attendance, and prayer much more seriously. I had a great desire find out for myself if the gospel of Jesus Christ was in fact true. My answer didn't come easy. I found may roadblocks in my way, but I kept going. Little by little I found myself receiving indicators from my Heavenly Father through the Spirit that this church had all the tools necessary for me to return back into His presence in perfect happiness. I don't understand everything, but I have faith. I know that if we sincerely seek for truth we will find it. I know that our Heavenly Father loves us and wants nothing more than for us to return to Him again. I know Jesus is the Christ and through His Atonement we have the ability to cleanse ourselves from sin and become clean once again. I invite you to find out for yourself with a sincere heart if these things are true and if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is truly Christ's church. I know of the happiness and peace you will feel as you bring yourself unto Christ and I promise you of it's reality.

How I live my faith

I live my faith primarily by example. When I go to church I try really hard to find ways to incorporate the gospel principles taught into my life. I'm not always perfect in applying those principles, but I'm always trying to become better. Due to none of my friends being LDS, I've had many opportunities to share my beliefs with them because they'll ask me why I do the things I do. It's wonderful for me to see the desire of others to become better people as we discuss some of the hardships and questions of this life.
