Hi I'm Danielle Leota

I am half samoan half palagi and was born and raised in Alaska!

About Me

I was adopted at birth into a wonderful family in Alaska. I have 6 siblings and all but the oldest are all adopted. We are a multi-cultural family of white, Alaska Native, Eskimo, and Samoan. My father passed away when I was 12 years old after fighting a 2 1/2 year battle of a brain tumor. I attended BYU-Hawaii for 2 years where I learned more about my Samoan culture and started learning the language too! While at school I figured I'd meet some way cute samoan boy to take me the temple, but I actually met my husband back in Alaska. He was serving a mission there and we became friends, then started writing when I went back to BYUH. Well, one thing lead to another, he finished his mission honorably and we got engaged! We were sealed for time and all eternity in the Apia Samoa temple! One month after we were married I am now back in Alaska while he is 6000 miles away while we are waiting for his immigration papers to come through. Out of our 20 month relationship, we have only physically been together for 2 months. But hey, absence makes the heart grow fonder yeh? No matter the trials and challenges in my life, I know that they are all for a reason and will only prepare me and make me stronger!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I choose to be. Yes I was born into the church, but I still had to gain a testimony of my own. When my father passed away, my world was rocked. The only thing that kept me going was the knowledge of the plan of salvation and that families could be sealed together FOREVER. How great is that?! Who wouldn't want to be together forever with their family? From that moment on I swore to marry in the temple. But saying was different then doing. Did I struggle and mess up just like everyone? and even at times feel like a temple marriage was impossible? Yes, but through those struggles I gained a strong testimony of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. The love that he has for each of us individually is overwhelming. I am so grateful for his sacrifice for me, for YOU, that we can be imperfect and thats ok! As long as we are trying and continue in our journey forward, there is always a way back! I know that this church is true. I am so grateful for the guidance it has given me in my life. I know that the Savior lives and loves YOU!

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday. Im not the most involved in community service or different groups like that, but I just be myself. I live my life with the principles and standards I have been taught, like dressing modestly, going to church, being positive, seeing other people as they may become. Different things like that help create a bubble of acceptance and love around you, one that people will feel and want to join in. And trust, there's plenty of room in the bubble! Come one, come all!
