Hi I'm Katie

I am a college student, an elementary school reading specialist, piano player and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of four siblings in my family. I have lived in Utah my whole life but love to travel anywhere I can get to; which recently landed me in Sydney, Australia. I am a college student who is working on getting my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education. While at college, I love to help in the Special Needs Institute classes and volunteer weekly. I work at an elementary school as a reading specialist and couldn't ask for a better job! Some of my favorite things to do are listen to music and play the piano; music is a major part of my life. I also love photography and this passion landed me the title of sports photographer while in high school. Besides photographing sports I love to photograph nature and the gorgeous world that God has given to us. This lets me get into the outdoors where hiking and camping has become a new love of mine. When I have some down time I love to turn the pages in a good book, some of my favorite books have become books written by Latter-Day Apostles and Prophets. Those who know me can agree that I am the one who has a smile on my face no matter what situation I may be in and I love to brighten anyone's day!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because this gospel has made me happier than anything else has ever before. I have come to know that the Savior loves me and knows me better than I know myself. Through some recent experiences, I have been able to learn and understand a little more clearly the sacrifice the Savior made because of his eternal and unconditional love for me. The Savior died to know with a perfect knowledge everything that I have and will experience in this life. Whether it be happiness, frustration, surprise, or confusion, I know the Savior knows what I am going through and he is able to have compassion on me because of it. He is able to be there for me when I have no one to lean on. He can strengthen me to be able to stand alone in the midst of temptation and trials. Without my Savior I do not know who would be my best friend. Though he is not here physically, I know he is here spiritually and I can feel his love envelope me when I need it most. He died so I may live and in turn I live so I may share his love to those around me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday. From saying my prayers when I wake up in the morning to reading my scriptures before I go to bed. I love talking about the gospel and my standards; I share my testimony every chance I get. One of the ways I like to share my testimony is through music. I pour my feelings of love into the pieces I play and hope that someone can hear my testimony through the notes. I live my faith by trying to be an example to everyone I meet. Whether it is a simple smile or a deep conversation I try to share my love for everyone as I see them as a child of God and God's own love for them as his child. The gospel isn't just a religion, it is a way of life that can make anyone complete.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

I know that there is a prophet that leads and guides this church today with the power, authority and keys from God. I know there is prophet because I have listened to his words and have tested them for myself to see if what he says is true. Every time I have tested them I get an answer and it confirms to me that the prophet is ordained by God to lead and serve this church. The prophet will never lead those of the church astray, God will never permit it. With this in mind, I have full confidence in the prophet the counsel he gives to the church. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

Mormons perform proxy, or in the place of someone, baptisms because baptism is a key part of salvation. We perform proxy baptisms because there is no ability to baptize the actual person who has already passed away. By doing so, those of us members who are here on Earth are able to assist those deceased ancestors in accepting the gospel by performing their ordinances here on earth. Show more Show less
