Hi I'm Bob Olson

I grew up in North western Ontario's rainy River District . I have been a Mormon all my life.

About Me

I grew up in the area stated in my profile but in between my youth and my present status as a retiree I worked and lived in western Canada for 35 years. My wife and I returned here because we were hooked on fishing so to speak, and we wanted to be close to the lake we both loved. My wife passed away in 2013 so I don't go fishing nearly as much. I have 4 children spread out to the west of me with 11 grandchildren and 3 Great grandchildren. There are many things I like to do, from Playing my guitar and singing to myself in my bedroom, to woodworking and woodcarving to name a few. However my greatest love is the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Savior.

Why I am a Mormon

I do not ever remember a time when I didn't believe in the church. Of course I grew up in it so that might explain part of the reason. But ever since I was Baptized at 8 years old in a creek just below a beaver dam, I have never really doubted it. That does not mean there were no struggles, My years between 16 and 20 were a rocky road sometimes but never so bad I couldn't reach the savior in Prayer. If there was any one thing that brought me through those years and a lifetime after it was Prayer, I learned to talk with him no matter where I was and no Matter what I was doing. A testament to me that he lives and hears us is the fact I made it through. The Saviors Gospel is true Folks.

How I live my faith

I try to live the Gospel as best I am able. I absolutely love my lifelong Church calling as a Home Teacher, This is where we visit Our assigned families and hopefully do some good along the way. But I also believe we need to be aware of opportunities to help everyone and anyone we can. I have had many chances to serve in church positions, from teaching the children in Primary, to working with the youth, working with adults and at present am the President of a District of the church. My greatest joy in church work though, right behind my Family is everyone else, People are just amazing.

How can I find someone to talk with, in person, about the Mormon religion?

The best answer I can give if you do not know a member of the church, is go to the yellow pages of your phone directory find a listing for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and there you will find a phone number, address and sometimes the phone number of the Bishop. Call the numbers if no answers go to the chapel address on any evening except Monday evening. There's almost always someone there. Show more Show less
