Hi I'm Chad Sorensen

I am from Texas. I am a Division I Student-Athlete at BYU. And I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of six children. My parents Craig and Melanie have been a wonderful and positive influence in my life. Some of the people I look up to most include my younger brothers Ryan and Josh who have both inspired me in different ways to become a better person. I am studying Neuroscience and French at BYU where I am a member of the BYU Men's Swim Team. With my free time I like to read, watch movies, and spend time with friends. My favorite times of the year are when I can go back to Texas and visit my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon Family and raised going to Church each week. I lived in five different states growing up. My last move with my family was from Utah to Texas. It was a big adjustment as I was entering High School. I still remember how much it helped to be able to read the Book of Mormon each day, and to attend an early morning scripture study class. That year we were focused on the Old Testament. Later, as a missionary, I learned that God really does want to help each of us, and that He will help us in every aspect of our lives if we are living correctly and trying to follow His commandments. That foundation from my youth, strengthened by my own experiences in college and as a missionary, has blessed me more than I could ever have imagined. I know that God loves us and that we are truly His children. I know that Jesus Christ is His Son, our Savior and our Redeemer. I know that He died for us and was resurrected on the third day, and that He offers life and light to each of us. Because of His Atonement, we can be made clean from our mistakes and be strengthened to do good things and become better people than we are now. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet, and that he translated the Book of Mormon by the power of God. I know that the Book of Mormon is true, and I can testify that it has brought a power into my life to do good and to improve myself. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God and that The Church of Jesus-Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the Lord's true Church, restored to the earth once again in our day, so that we can have all the blessings which our loving Heavenly Father wishes to give to us.

How I live my faith

I begin every day with a prayer. I also read in the scriptures for 20-30 minutes nearly every day. Each week I attend Church. I also attend a weekly religious class as part of an organization which is referred to as Institute. I also make a monthly visit to specific members of my congregation as assigned by my Church Leaders during which I share a short spiritual thought. The most wonderful opportunity I have had to serve in the Church came as a full-time volunteer missionary. I spent two years in Belgium and France sharing my beliefs and my testimony of Christ with people from many different backgrounds. I came to truly appreciate that God loves all of His children and that each of us is important to Him.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Chad Sorensen
I will be forever grateful for the opportunity I had to share the restored Gospel and my testimony of Jesus Christ. Having seen how much the Gospel had blessed my lives and the lives of those around me I wanted other people to have those same blessings for themselves. I wanted to have the opportunity to serve others and allow them to feel the Lord's love the way I so often had. Another great blessing was that I did not do it alone. I was always with a companion, and sometimes two, who loved the Lord like I did and who sought to share the same Gospel with the people we met because of the blessings it had personally brought them in their own lives. What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

Chad Sorensen
We believe that Jesus Christ is the literal Son of God, our Savior and our Redeemer. We believe that He lived a perfect life, showing as well as teaching us how to live so that we can return again to live with our Father in Heaven. His Atoning Sacrifice allows us to repent of our sins and be forgiven and to be resurrected after we die. I am grateful for the Savior's example and teachings which have provided me a path to follow so that I can return and live with Him. I am also grateful for the Atonement in my life because it lifts and strengthens me to become a better person than I could be without Christ's help. Show more Show less
