Hi I'm Dottie

I grew up in Maryland. I like to garden, play the piano and violin. I am student, wife, mom and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a wife of 23 years and a Mom to 5 children. 4 on earth and 1 in Heaven. I am a full time college student. I love to garden, I love house plants, I love photography! I have a big sense of humor and I love, love, love to laugh!

Why I am a Mormon

This is a tender topic; as a young child my parents did not participate in church or any denomination. When I was 10 my grandparents joined the Mormon church. I went to church with them. Initially it was so go to fun activities, to get out of the house, for something to do. I was 11 when I joined and I would have to say I was fully converted as a teen. Invited to a church family's home for a birthday party, all 10 family members kneeled beside their chairs to bless the cake and ice cream. I was in awe of them, their reverence, their prayer for cake and ice cream. I could not recall having a prayer before meals at home. I immediately knew I wanted a praying family, even if only for cake and ice cream. From that point on, I took my church membership far more seriously and I have not wavered. I am blessed and proud to be a Mormon. I am grateful to my Savior for his ultimate sacrifice. I'm grateful for modern day prophets and personal revelation. I know without a doubt that the gospel teachings help me to be a better person, and I have no doubt my participation in this church keeps me grounded. My life isn't perfect, it's actually very hard, but this gospel helps me through. My association with the church gives me instant family where ever I go. I was in Austria one time and I met a woman named Julia. After talking for a few minutes we discovered we were both Mormons, she immediately threw out her arms and embraced me exclaiming, "Sister!" Just like that, there was my sister in Austria. I'm so blessed and grateful to be a Latter-Day Saint!

How I live my faith

Currently I am the Music Leader and Choir director at church. I LOVE MUSIC! Usually when people meet me, they find out rather quickly I'm a Mormon, simply because my family is so involved in different church activities.
