Hi I'm Jenny Haskell

I grew up in Utah. I love music and dancing, sign language and filmography. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an aspiring videographer who loves American Sign Language (you can always find me signing a song or just fingerspelling my thoughts), all things Disney and dancing. I play the piano and the baritone ukulele. I am an avid movie watcher and quoter. I crave laughter. I love taking drives in Summer with the windows down blasting whatever Broadway hit I'm into that day. I love the gospel. Without it, I'd be lost. Hi :)

Why I am a Mormon

I've lived in Utah my entire life. I've been surrounded by other Mormons since I was little. But I know the feeling of being alone. Even with my parents, and brothers and sisters being around me, I've felt that lonely feeling before. Thinking that there is no one out there who loves me. No one who cares about me. But I know that there is always someone who loves me. My Savior Jesus Christ. He loves me more than anyone could ever love me. Many a time have I sat alone in my room, crying out for a friend, and many a time I have felt His strong but gentle arms around me. I have felt His love throughout my life through the small and simple things. The tender mercies that come day to day. I see the hand of God in my life. Through my family and my friends. Through my ward members and strangers. I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He loves us all very much. I know that I am a Child of God and that Heavenly Father loves me. I am truly grateful for the gifts and talents I have. I am grateful that I have the gospel in my life. I would be lost without it. I'm grateful I have a family and I know that we will be together forever. I am grateful to have been brought up in the light of the gospel, surrounded by it's splendors throughout my childhood. I'm grateful to have a relationship with my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ. I love them both very much. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. And I'm so happy that I am a part of it.

How I live my faith

I am the pianist for the Primary in my ward. I love hearing the children sing these simple songs about the gospel. For me music is a way to express the things we feel so others feel it too. The songs I play for these children are simple and sweet, yet they present a powerful message to those who listen. Every time I hear those gentle voices bearing their testimonies, (even if they don't realize it), when singing, I feel the spirit so strongly. I feel my own testimony coming out, if not through my mouth, through my fingers into that piano. I love the thought of bearing my testimony through one of my favorite things in the world: music. Whether I be playing primary songs for children, church songs for the young women and young men, a musical number on my own, just playing by myself in my home, or singing, I know that somehow, somewhere, someone is listening and feeling what I feel.

What is being a Mormon like?

Jenny Haskell
Being a Mormon is the happiest feeling I have ever felt. The main reason we are on earth is to "have joy" (2 Nephi 2:25). I have felt joy throughout my entire life due to being a part of the LDS church. I feel happiness in knowing that I'm here for a reason and that I can live with Heavenly Father again. How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Jenny Haskell
I have come to know our Father in Heaven through prayer. I pray personally, talking to Him as a friend. I tell Him how I feel when I'm scared or sad, happy or excited. I read the scriptures daily and feel close to Him when I read the stories of witnesses who have experienced trials and have come to Him themselves. I feel close to Him when I serve others and when I keep the commandments. Show more Show less
