Hi I'm Hannah

I grew up in New York. I'm a law student who loves to bake, run, and read in her spare time. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up the second youngest of nine kids in a blended family. My family has been an important source of strength to me throughout my life, and especially during the last several years as I left home to go to college, struggled to make post-graduation decisions, and tried to endure the trials of law school. As hard as law school is, I really love it. I am one of those weirdos who likes to read, research, and write. I'm still not sure what I'll be doing after graduation, but one of my passions is antitrust law, so I plan to pursue that path. When I'm not studying I like to spend time with my family and friends. One of my favorite things to do is to visit my siblings and hang out with my nieces and nephews because they always say the funniest things. I would love to be able to travel more, especially in Europe. When I'm feeling more like a couch potato I love to watch cooking competition TV shows and then try to recreate some of the dishes with my sister.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon family, so I don't have just one moment when I decided that I knew that this is Jesus Christ's church. Instead, there have been several moments throughout my life when I have felt the Holy Spirit testify to me that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world and that this is His church. One of the key things for the development of my testimony has been the relationship I have built with my Heavenly Father through prayer. Prayer is so powerful because it helps me to feel the Spirit and, in turn, God's love for me. Part of its power comes from the fact that I have access to it all the time, no matter where I am, and I can pray about anything. Because of this, I am able to pray about things that trouble me to ask God what is the truth and to give me understanding. In response to my questions, there have been many times that I have experienced a warm or tingling feeling, which overtime I have realized is the Spirit communicating to me. I know that those feelings are from the Spirit because at those same moments I feel overwhelming feelings of God's love for me, too. I have had those witnesses of the Spirit and God's love as I have prayed about whether this church teaches correct principles and is God's church. Another reason that I'm a Mormon is because I have seen the fruits of following this church's principles, and they are precious and good. Although I have seen how the church's teachings have blessed the lives of my family and friends, more importantly I have experienced how they have changed me. I have been able to more fully (although not yet perfectly) develop patience and charity for others through following the church's teachings and sincerely praying for God's help. I know that I would not have been able to make these changes on my own and that the increased abilities I have are because of God.

How I live my faith

I help plan service projects and activities for my congregation to participate in. The best part of this assignment is seeing how willing people are to spend time serving even though I know that they have busy school and work schedules. One of my favorite activities that we have done so far is to volunteer to watch kids at a local school for autism on Friday nights so that the kids' parents can have a date night. It was so fun to play with the kids and see how excited they were to get one-on-one attention and it was also nice to know that we were helping the parents get some much needed relaxation.
