Hi I'm Amanda

I grew up in Colorado. I am a researcher. I started a non-profit to help women in developing nations. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom to a little boy, he is dear and adds so much to our little family. I am a wife, I love being married and waking up with my husband every morning. I am a researcher, I have a Master's in Family Studies and Human Development. That means that I get to study families and individuals as they interact and develop. This is a fun area to work in! I especially love data analysis. I started a non-profit with my husband, called Once-a-Month, to support young women in school and employment, I'm always looking for help and volunteers with this.

Why I am a Mormon

My grandfather left us a small document when he passed away call, "My Spiritual Journey". For me, this is a priceless letter. He was not a Mormon when he was born, he joined the Mormon faith when he was in his 40s, but talked about the journey that brought him to become a Mormon and the opportunities in his life when he felt the presence/influence of God. My spiritual journey is also marked by times when I felt the presence/influence of God in my life. These moments for me are tangible. I have felt God in my life as I have served others, when I have decided to change my life to put into in line with Christ's teachings, and when I build my hope and faith in Christ. An important step I took in my life was to ask God for spiritual confirmations of my decisions. I did this through study and prayer. When I was considering marriage, I asked God to confirm my decision, and he did. When I wanted to pursue more education, I asked God and He confirmed my decision. These opportunities to feel God's love have given me experience and knowledge. I cannot deny that God exists, He has answered my prayers. I cannot deny that Christ is my Savior, I have felt the power of his healing and forgiveness. I cannot deny the Book of Mormon because I asked God, He confirmed to my heart and mind that they are His words. I know that when we seek God's guidance that we can be directed and supported. This is why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I like to live my faith because I never regret it. When I have chosen to act against the principles of Christianity, I have an uneasy, sickening feeling; in contrast when I live the principles of Christianity I feel peaceful and confident. For my church, I am a teacher. I teach about families. This is a great opportunity to serve and use my education to help other, but at the same time it helps me professionally. Knowing how important families are to God, feeds my passion for Family Studies and Human Development.
