Hi I'm Rebecca

I am a mother. I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and mother of five children. I love to read, swim, play games with my family, go out on a date with my husband, or curl up on the couch and watch a good movie. Some of my favorite movies are The Sound of Music, Pride and Prejudice, Ever After, and Scrooge(Albert Finney version). I also love to bake anything that my family will devour. We love pies at our house, and you can't have a pie without ice cream! I really enjoy camping with my family and creating lasting memories and strengthening family bonds. I also love to get together with my extended family. I come from a family with 8 children, and my husband has 6 children in his family. We have been blessed with wonderful parents who taught us the joyous gospel of Jesus Christ. I desire to give that same blessing to my own children.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, the Mormons. I always knew what I learned as a child made me feel good, and I enjoyed reading the scriptures, especially when I would read The Book of Mormon. I come from a family where all but one of my siblings served a mission for the church. I served a mission in San Jose, Costa Rica. When I was in the Missionary Training Center I remember one night praying more diligently then I had in my life. I plead with Heavenly Father to let me know that He was listening to me. After quite some time on my knees, I got up and a scripture reference came into my mind, Alma 33:7. I didn't know what the scripture was, so I opened The Book of Mormon and read, "And when I did turn unto my closet, O Lord, and prayed unto thee, thou didst hear me." I knew that Heavenly Father had answered my prayer. I will be eternally grateful for the knowledge that I have a Heavenly Father who knows my name and loves me. I know that He sent His son, Jesus Christ, to suffer for our sins, sicknesses, heartaches, and pain, and ultimately give His life, so that all of mankind would have the opportunity to return to His presence. I know that the Holy Spirit testifies of all truth, and I have felt the spirit testify to me countless times of the reality of my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, and their love for each of us. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet. He saw God the Father, and His son Jesus Christ. He translated The Book of Mormon, and was an instrument in the hand of God to restore His church again to this earth. I am grateful for our modern day prophet, President Thomas S. Monson, and the apostles. I know that God loves His children and desires us to know all that we should do to return to Him. The gospel of Jesus Christ is glorious. The more I desire to be closer to my Savior, the more I am blessed with His love.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving in my church, with my husband, as teachers for the youth, age 17-18. We both have loved this calling. It has been a great opportunity to get to know the youth. We feel blessed to be able to share the gospel with them and learn together as the Holy Spirit touches our hearts. As a mother, I teach my children the importance of our Savior Jesus Christ, praying to our Heavenly Father, gratitude, humility, morality, self-reliance, responsibility, service, and loving others. We read scriptures everyday as a family to help us remember what our Heavenly Father wants us to do, feel the spirit, and receive answers to our questions. As a family, we like to spend at least one night each week, where we do fun things, learn the gospel, and just be together. Prayer is very sacred to me, it is the first thing I do in the morning, and the last thing I do before I go to bed. I am so grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who is available anytime, anywhere. I have a prayer in my heart throughout the day, and I am so grateful for the comfort I receive through prayer and my faith in Jesus Christ. I love to visit the elderly and widowed. They have so much wisdom and I enjoy listening to them and being with them. I find much joy in serving others.
