Hi I'm Nieka

I am getting a degree in physics, I am a competitive jump roper, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

Hi. I am a full time college student and am on the track and field team. I used to do competitive jump roping and have been to many different places and met many different people around the United States in my travels. I also have had the opportunity to go to Australia on an international track team through Down Under Sports. It was an amazing experience that led me to make many awesome friends and gain a new appreciation for the gospel. Some other things I like to do are arts and crafts, play music, sing, cook, and honestly anything active with friends. I love to feel alive and be outdoors surrounded bu the miracles of life and the creations of God.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in this church, but like any religion I had to come to my own conclusion that it is true, and gain my own testimony of what I believe. My conversion started the day I decided to be baptised, but one of the first memories I have of really becoming converted was a December night before my 12th birthday. I do not remember what led up to this moment or really what followed, but that night I couldn't sleep. I needed to know that the church was true and that God really was there listening to me and helping me in my times of need. I remember praying so hard that I could know for sure. As I was praying an amazing warm, burning feeling encompassed me. I felt my Savior's love for me, and I knew that He was there for me and that the things that I had asked about were true. After that I felt like I needed to share my testimony, and so I made a goal to do so and did share it in church before my birthday. In sharing my testimony I further solidified my conversion to the church, and my knowledge that its teachings are true. Since then I have had many experiences that have helped me further develop my testimony and my faith in Christ. I now know without any doubt that the Lord is there for me and He does hear my prayers and leads and guides me through the promptings of His Spirit. I know that I am loved and that someday I will return to live with my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ again. This gospel has brought me so much hope, peace, and guidance and I wish for all to experience the Love of Christ like I have been able to.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through lots of little habits I have developed over the years to help bring me closer to Christ. I read my scriptures daily and write in my journal. I find comfort in the words I find in the scriptures and in the spirit I feel. I also love going to youth activities and getting to know new people and make friends. One of my favorite ways to live my faith is through service. When I am serving others I feel the love that my Savior has for me and for those whom I am serving, and I want the best for them. I have had many opportunities in my life too serve ranging from town clean-ups to helping siblings and friends with homework, but I have found that there are ways to serve people all around us everyday. All we have to do is be aware of those around us and not afraid to step in and lend a helping hand. I have found it truly amazing how much even a simple smile can lift someones day. Never be afraid to serve :)

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Nieka
Yes, as a Mormon I believe the Bible to be the word of God. I also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God given to the ancient people who lived in the Americas through the Lords prophets just like the Bible was given to the Jews. Show more Show less
