Hi I'm Henry Thompson

I'm in love with this whole wide world. I believe you can learn something from everyone you meet. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student, living the dream at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. I love anything to do with the outdoors. Climbing, hiking, sleeping on the trampoline, slacklining, you name it. Something about getting away from it all and just spending some time in God's creation is so rejuvenating. I love music. Listening to music, making music, going to concerts. There are few things I like more than going to a good concert. I am in love with humanity. Every person on this earth is so unique, and they all have something to offer. I strive to build relationships with as many people is possible, and I know I learn something important every time I meet someone.

Why I am a Mormon

The reason I am a Mormon is because I have had many special experiences to help me to know that the message of the gospel is the true word of God. All I have ever wanted in this life is, amidst all of the tragedy and the hardships and the trails in the world, to be truly happy. As I have read the Book of Mormon and prayed to know if it is true, I have realized that the way to true happiness is through following its teachings. In the Book of Mormon, one of the primary teachings is of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, where Jesus suffered for all of our sins. Felt all of our pains. Overcame all adversity. Because He did this, we have the chance and ability to be forgiven of all of our sins. We have the chance to put all of our problems before the Lord, hiding nothing from Him, leaving no secret left uncovered. One of my favorite scriptures in the Book of Mormon is in 1 Nephi 21, verse 16, and it reads "Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me." To me, this testifies that the Savior knows me. He knows my greatest trials. He knows when I am feeling alone, or scared, or when I am lost. Because the Savior has already felt everyone's pain and atoned for everyone's sins, we don't have to live with them forever. Knowing this makes me feel true peace. And knowing that I have a Savior who loves me enough to suffer my sins so I don't have to makes me truly happy.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in many ways. Weekly, I attend my local church meetings, where I meet with other members who have the same beliefs as I do. It is great to meet with others who have similar intentions to glorify the Savior and become better people through following His teachings. Each day, I strive to read the Book of Mormon and pray to my Heavenly Father in order to feel the love of Christ as often as possible. For my church, I also have a calling to organize a weekly activity for a small group of students who live close to me. I am expected to watch over these students and make sure they are doing alright. Also, there are six members in my ward that I am assigned to visit monthly. During these visits, I am find out if there is anything they need help with, or any struggles they are going through. While I only have to visit them monthly, I try to make sure they are okay throughout the whole month. While there are many different ways I live my faith, it all comes down to one thing: service. Service to my fellow men. Service in my church. But most of all, service to the Lord.
