Hi I'm Jess

I'm a single mother. I love sports, reading, and learning about new things. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Texas. I have 5 sisters. I am a single mother of a teenager. I work for an independent insurance agency helping non-profits manage their risks. I love going to games for Dallas Stars, Frisco Rough Riders, Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks, and Dallas Cowboys. I also enjoy curling up with a book and disappearing into the story line until the last page.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a Mormon. I went inactive for a time, but always knew I'd return to His church when others would suggest a church for me. Even during that time, I didn't lose my faith in Jesus Christ. His church feels like home to me. Learning about Him through each meeting is what helps feed my Spirit each week. Happiness is a choice. It is much easier to choose to be happy knowing our Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ love us. Knowing God's plan has helped me grieve the loss of family members. My life isn't easy, but it is worth it. I love knowing that God is the same in the Bible times as He is today and continues to speak to us today through a living prophet. I am able to see the hand of God in my life on a daily basis. This is the Church of Jesus Christ as it was when Christ was on the Earth with the fullness of his teachings and his authority on the Earth. I have learned for myself through prayers as I study the Book of Mormon and Bible and strive to apply the teachings of Jesus Christ in my life daily.

How I live my faith

Following Christ's teachings and striving to become more like him each day. This isn't always easy, but it is possible. When someone is behaving inappropriately, I try to look at this person as Christ would, with love. Random acts of kindness spread like wildfire. Smile at everyone. It might brighten someone's day. Kneeling in prayer and scripture study daily with my son is the highlight of my days.
