Hi I'm Eden

I'm a daughter and sister. I'm a lover of poems and being outside. I want to be a follower of Christ. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

One of the ways God shapes me is by moving me to different places. All of these places hold a little piece of home for me now. I am grateful to be a New Mexican, Wisconsinite, Utahn, Guatemalteca, Mozambican, and more – not because my ancestors are necessarily from these places, but because people from these places have welcomed me with open arms. Each place is a blessing to me. My dream is to live in many more parts of the world, and to come to know many more of the people who surround me, for we are all sisters and brothers.

Why I am a Mormon

One of my favorite poets, Rumi, once wrote: “As you start walk on the way, the way appears.” This describes how I feel I have come to this church. I started to walk out on the path of this religion, not really knowing what lay ahead of me. But, as I continue to journey, I find that the path is appearing before my very eyes. The same poet wrote, “when you feel a peaceful joy, that is when you are near truth.” The Gospel, or the teachings of Jesus Christ, gives to my heart a peaceful, abiding joy. I feel that through this religion, I am being led to truth. I know that God, our Father, wants us to return to live with Him again. I believe this. I know that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to show us the path back to Him. All that is lovely and beautiful in this life is God showing His love to each one of us. He knows you and me, and He loves us more than we can know. “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39) He is ever reaching out to me and to you. We will find the purest, deepest joy when we continue to seek Him.

How I live my faith

God gives me many opportunities throughout my day to reach out and learn more of Him. Many times, I learn more of Him through others, through their kind acts on behalf of others. I try talk to God throughout my day by praying to Him. I attend meetings and worship there. Christ said, "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them" (Matthew 18:20). I feel the love of God working in my heart when I am with others, learning from them and trying to serve them.
