Hi I'm Marcus Joseph

I grew up in northern Virginia. I am a professional audio engineer, videographer, and photographer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Sterling, Virginia. My parents are mixed; my mom is German-American, my dad is African-American. My parents met at Loyola, in New Orleans, and have been married for over 20 years. They are both computer scientists, as they met in a computer lab. My first neighbors were Mormon, and they had something like 10 kids. My mom was so curious as to how the mother of these kids was able to manage. She said it was through the Gospel that she was able to become such a loving and caring, yet effective mother. There was a Mormon church right around the corner, and soon my mom was baptized when I was about 2 years old. I remember she said that she had prayed so hard about it to God whether it was the right thing to do, and as she sat next to me praying, right after she finished asking Heavenly Father whether it was the right thing to do, a ray of light shined through the window onto the both of us for a brief moment. She personally felt in her heart it was the right thing to do, and because of it, my life has forever been changed for the better.

Why I am a Mormon

Being Mormon helps me to make good choices in life. Believing in God lets me have hope where there is none. Following the principles of the doctrine help me feel the spirit and know how to handle life situations with grace and humility. I grew up a Mormon so technically I'm not a convert, but I have been converted in many ways through many things that I personally feel were directly because of the Gospel. I am a very skeptical individual at all times, and being away at college now allows me to make any choices I desire. Being Mormon has unlocked so many doors of happiness for me through living it's teachings, that I trust the principles to always work for me. Many times I feel like I don't want to follow the rules so much, as I know many people feel. But the principles this church teaches are so effective that I am motivated to want to live my life the way that I know is right and feels right.

How I live my faith

I live my life knowing that I represent Jesus Christ. I try to approach every situation I am in with a loving, caring view, and try to think what Jesus would do. I do not press my views on anyone ever. I never make people feel guilty for having different standards. I just do what I feel is right and would have a positive impact on people around me, only being an example. I pray about things constantly and have fine tuned myself to be sensitive to the spirit so I may know what to do in situations.
