Hi I'm Mecailla Shupe

I grew up in Vernal Utah. I love animals and zoology. I am a missionary in Tennessee, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a zoologist and animal enthusiast at heart. I have always had a love of nature and being out doors. As a child, I would go and adventure with my two siblings. We would pick up snakes and bugs. And played in any water we could find. As I saw things I liked, I learned to draw them. I learned to take a closer look at the world around me. And so a love for drawing developed as well as my passion for animals. I have been a volunteer at several animal shelters, and plan to work for a zoo some day. My brother and sister have always shared the same love of critters and things because we could use that to relate to each other. We always had fun going out and learning together. I took a few introduction courses in college to marine and animal biology and plan to continue it as a career.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up I struggled believing what the L.D.S. church taught. I never believed there could be anything more to this life than being unhappy. I grew up with a rough home and family life. I had been baptized into the L.D.S. church at the age of eight but I didn't ever understand why. And so I drifted away. When I was eighteen years old I made a friend that helped me find the gospel again. As she helped me find my way I found a new love for my Savior. I came to the realization that, though life had been hard, it didn't have to be miserable. I would still face rough days but I knew that knowing the gospel would help me get through anything. I now get to enjoy the privilege of inviting others to find faith in Jesus Christ, by serving a full time mission. An honor I never would have been given if I had not found my testimony again.

How I live my faith

I am currently a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am serving in the Tennessee Knoxville Mission. I love doing what I am, because I am able to increase my faith in the Savior. I also love doing this because I know that I am helping others find and increase their faith as well.
