Hi I'm Debbie Brackett

I grew up in Utah. I enjoy gardening, my family and love the temple.

About Me

I am married and have been blessed with 8 children, 7 of them living.I have been blessed with wonderful grandchildren who bring much joy and happiness into my life. I love my family, I love to spend time with them. I love to garden, sew and take walks in the park. I am currently enjoying some free time as I retired from my job as a florist a few years ago. I love the sweet fragrances and colors of flowers and the impact they have on my spirit. I love to spend time with my grandchildren, they are precious and I adore them. Another thing I love is Sunday dinner with the family. It is a time of chatter, excitement and catching up. We love being together and enjoying the company of one another.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love my Savior Jesus Christ. He has given me everything, He has given me the opportunity be forgiven for my sins and shortcomings. It is through His atoning sacrifice that I have the opportunity to grow and develop and to learn to become more like him. It is because of His love for me that I know I can do better each day and be the kind of person I desire to be. It is because of Him that I know I can return to my Father in Heaven at the end of my life on earth and be reunited with them; not only with them but with my family. Because of Him,my family is eternal. I love to read His word. I love learning about Him in the New testament as well as the Book of Mormon. I know that as I read it brings me closer to Him. I am a better, more patient and kinder individual when I read His word each day. I love being a Mormon because the opportunities for service are great, we are very service minded as a people and it is only by serving others that we can truly find ourselves and lighten our burdens. It is by seeing the needs and the circumstances of others that we are continually reminded how blessed we are. I love being a Mormon because I am able to serve in His Holy House, the Temple. The temple is where sacred covenants are made and we receive eternal gifts from our Father and our Savior. It is a place of learning, of reverence and of love. It brings peace to my soul each time I walk through the doors into the Temple. It is truly a place of great comfort and solace to me. I love being a Mormon because of the eternal hope that is ever present in my life. I know this life is just a step into another. I know that loved ones who have passed away are not lost to us, but wait for us to join them again. I know that if I strive to live righteously and to keep the covenants I have made, I will be blessed to be reunited with them forever. I know that Jesus Christ lives, that He has given everything for us, that He wants us to return to him.

How I live my faith

I attend my church meetings each week and teach the 6 and 7 year old boys and girls. They are lively and have very inquisitive minds. My husband teaches with me and we love sharing our testimonies of the Gospel with our class. I visit a few sisters in my ward area each month, with my friend and companion Jane. It is a time for us to see our sisters in their homes and to get to know them better. I love learning about them and the trials they have experienced in their lives. It gives me strength to hear their stories and how they have overcome many adversities in their lives. I am so blessed to get to know them, I love them.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Debbie Brackett
I never realized my "lifestyle " was really that different. It is only through observation that I realize it is very different. In our home I pray that the Holy Ghost or Spirit may be present. I also read the scriptures each day in an effort to allow an environment in which the Holy Ghost can dwell. I limit the amount of outside influence I bring into my home, by monitoring how much TV is on and and what is being watched.I want to feel the calm and peace that the Holy Ghost brings with Him. I want my home to be a place of tranquility and a place of safety. I want others to feel that when they are here. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints I try really hard to remember our Savior in all things. I try to pattern my life after His and He is ever present in my heart and our mind . That does not mean our home is perfect, I still manage on occasion to have miscommunications and say things I don't mean or that are hurtful. I still manage to mess up, get stressed out, and be human. But all is not lost as there is always another chance to do better. At least I know I am trying, and as long as I do better each day and draw close to my Savior, I feel good. In our home we live the standards of the church and obey the Word of Wisdom. This makes other people think we are a little strange, but for us it is the norm. Because of the Word of wisdom we don't have to worry about many issues that confront others on a daily basis. It is a great way to be. Show more Show less
