Hi I'm Emma

I'm from Salt Lake City, Utah. I'm a student. I'm a missionary. and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Starting July 2014 I will be serving as a sister missionary in the McAllen Texas Mission. I love serving others so I'm excited for the opportunity to spend the next 18 months in the service of the Lord. I never planned on or wanted to serve a mission but the Lord had other plans for me and after about a year of avoiding the promptings I humbled myself and accepted the call to serve with the knowledge that it's what God wants and needs me to do and he will help me. I'm also a student at Brigham Young University. I have just completed my first year here and it was the greatest thing I've ever done. I plan on returning to school once I get back from my mission to continue my studies. Right now the plan is to get a major in Human Development with a minor in Non-profit Management.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the teachings bring peace comfort and joy to my life. I have seen over and over again the hand of the Lord in my life and watched as he has answered my prayers and helped me in times of need. I know that God hears every single one of our prayers no matter how short or simple they may be. I know that he will answer them each and every time, but I also know that his answer isn't always what we want. Sometimes the answer is no, or not yet, or not that way or just be patient. He doesn't always give me exactly what I've asked for but there has never been a time in my life that God hasn't given me exactly what I need at that moment. I don't always recognize it at the time, but when I'm able to reflect on experiences I am able to see all the good it did and everything it taught me. I know that when I put my faith in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ that that everything will work out. I know that they know what is best for me and will answer my prayers accordingly. It brings me so much peace knowing that things will always work out in the end and that I have God on my side. It fills my life with joy knowing that I can rely on my Heavenly Father to help me in times of need. Finally it brings me comfort knowing that there is a greater plan than what I am able so see right now and God can see it and he's directing me to the things I need to do and experience.

How I live my faith

I have accepted a call to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have been assigned to labor in the Texas McAllen Mission for a period of 18 months. I will leave behind family, friend and school as I devote this next year and a half to teaching the Lord's gospel and serving the people in the Texas McAllen Misson. I have served as a member of the activities committee and loved every second of it. I helped plan and organize events for our BYU Young Single Adult Ward. It gave me the opportunity to meet a lot of people and make some amazing friends. I know I wouldn't have had those opportunities had I not been apart of this committee. I have also serve as a visiting teacher. My roommate and I visited with 2 other girls in the ward. Each month we took time to get to know them and share a little message with them. It has been so fun to get to know these girls.
