Hi I'm Sonora Brannum

Hello! My name is Sonora. Pleased to meet you!

About Me

I'm a Freshman at Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah. I'm studying Graphic Design and am looking forward to graduating with my BFA. I'm the oldest of three kids in a single-parent home. I've gotten my black belt after 6 years of study. Music is a HUGE part of my life, and I love to play the piano and sing. I also love to draw and write.

Why I am a Mormon

I've found the greatest peace I'll ever know in this church. If I'd gone through half the things I've experienced without the support of the Gospel, I probably would have had a much harder time facing those challenges. If I didn't know that I could rely on my religion or my Heavenly Father to get me through, I don't think I would be here today. My faith and reliance in my Savior is what's kept me strong. The Atonement has helped me in so many ways, and I am eternally grateful to my Savior and to my Heavenly Father for this tremendous blessing in my life.

How I live my faith

I'm the ward music chair--in other words, I help to choose what the music is for each Sunday meeting.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Sonora Brannum
The Atonement was the beautiful gift that Jesus Christ completed for all of mankind that had lived, did live, and would live on this earth. He did this so that we may be cleansed of our sins. But not only this--by taking on the pains of the world, He also took on all of our griefs, sorrows, and discomforts. Because He did this, He knows exactly how to comfort us and give us the encouragement and support that we need to carry on. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Sonora Brannum
Yes, we are Christians. The full name of our church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The Book of Mormon, the keystone of our religion, is another Testament of Jesus Christ. We believe it is through Christ that we can attain eternal life. Show more Show less
