Hi I'm Jonny Banks

I'm a snowboarder. I'm an athlete. I'm from Minnesota. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and serving in the Salt Lake City South Mission. I have volunteered to give two years of my life to serve others and ultimately, serve the Lord. I have given up job and college opportunities and have put relationships on hold to give myself for this service. Knowledge is my interest, acting on that knowledge is my hobby. Perfection is what I strive for; yet my many imperfections keep me from obtaining it. I love the saying "happy always, content never." It's a motto that drives me. I love being active, the outdoors is my playground. During the cold seasons, snowboarding is my weapon of choice. During the summers, sports are what brings me the most joy. I was a team captain my senior your for our football and track team. I make mistakes constantly and feel quite embarrassed when I do so. I'm goofy, and can be quite awkward at times. I'm also a firm believer that it is only awkward if you let it be. I express myself in different ways, its usually by the way I act. Others opinions truly matter to me, but Gods opinion will always take priority. I love to lead, but learning to follow is now my righteous obsession. Jesus Christ is my mentor; it is Him that has made me the man I am today. He gave His life for me. I vow to give Him all my heart in return. This will forever be my life long pursuit.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because this church has brought me so much happiness. There have been many times in my life where I've really struggled and didn't know what to do. The only comfort I have found is when I've sincerely prayed to God and plead for His help. I tried to find happiness through things of the world and I found my joy was only temporary. Striving to follow Jesus Christ and His teachings is what brings me the most happiness. Not just temporary joy, but long lasting peace and comfort. The saying "The truth shall set you free" has been very real and accurate for me. I know that it is only through Jesus Christ that we can find true lasting peace and joy. This church is what has brought me the happiness i have,

How I live my faith

I strive to live my faith by how I act. My ultimate role model is Jesus Christ. I have read many books about Him, especially the Bible and Book of Mormon. I try to live my life as He did and use Him as my ultimate example. I love to be with my family. I strive to live in a way that wouldn't disgrace their name. Now that I have covenanted to follow Christ, I must always strive to not disgrace His name as well. I live my faith by the way I treat others. Now that I am a missionary, I strive to keep my thoughts towards others rather than myself. As I strive to think of others, I've noticed I grow much in that process as well. When hard trials come, I trust that God has allowed me to experience them so that I can learn and be stretched. Like every plant that needs to be pruned to be better, I know that any time I feel like I've been cut down, it happened to make me better too. Happiness is a choice, I know that God has revealed His plan of Happiness so that we may find clarified direction and purpose in life if we choose to accept.
