Hi I'm Makayla

I'm from a very small town in Idaho. I have changed my life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 19 years old and I am finishing up my second year of college. I grew up in my tiny town and really struggled with being the minority, so I jumped a grade and started college a year early. I love skiing, painting, designing, and I'm good at none of it. I've never been brave enough to try any sports, but if were I'm sure I wouldn't be very good at those either. I love the outdoors. Hiking, camping, boating, soaking, water balloon fights, and anything that involves people. I am soon to be married, and for once in my life, I am so ready for it. And that is me.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it is the one thing in my life that remains constant. The Gospel of Jesus Christ brings peace and true happiness to my life. I grew up in this church and I am blessed for that. I can honestly say that I have been converted a number of times, and I continue to be converted to the gospel. My latest conversion happened only but a few months ago. I was really struggling with who I was and where my life was headed. Like most everyone, I had made some mistakes that I wasn't proud of, and they consumed me. I couldn't feel happy, and most of the time I wouldn't let myself. I was supposed to travel to China to teach English to children in February, but came October I just knew that it was wrong. I ended up canceling the trip that I had paid for in full, and started down a different path. I thought, if I wasn't supposed to go to China, maybe I was supposed to serve a mission. So I started my mission papers, mainly because I knew that if there was one thing that could keep my mind off my own miserable mistakes, it was serving. Many can see the flaw there. It was through the process of submitting my papers that I gained a true understanding of the love of Christ and the power of the atonement. I was forgiven. At the same time I submitted my papers, I was introduced to the man I will marry soon. I wish that I could explain better how the event laid out, but I know that without a doubt, God put him in my life for a reason. Finally everything in my life makes sense. I know my purpose and I thank my Father in Heaven for that everyday. I know that He is there and that He answers my prayer. I know that He will answer yours if only you just ask. I have a testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and I know that we have a living prophet today. I say these thing in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by example. I strive to set a good example where ever I am. I keep my dress and words clean and modest. I visit with and teach sisters that surround me. In the past, I have taught classes on the gospel doctrine, and I loved every second of it. I hope to have further opportunities to teach and serve my brothers and sister in future.
