Hi I'm Michelle

I'm a college student pursuing Recreation Management. I work at a hair salon. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a freshman in college trying to figure out exactly who I am and what I want to pursue in life. I'm studying Recreation Management in hopes of being a wedding planner, planning events for amusement parks, or running a hotel. (That's the part I'm trying to figure out!) I work as a receptionist at a salon on campus and I love it! I get to meet new people everyday and watch them come out feeling better about themselves than when they came in. I love to find beauty in everything. I find it in people, in art, in words, in smells, in emotions. Finding that beauty uplifts me and helps me to be happy and whole. I'm minoring in Visual Arts because painting is one of the primary ways I express feelings, thoughts, and emotions. I love reading and learning. The acquisition of truth and knowledge are the ultimate pursuits of my life. I like to try new things, go new places, and meet different people. I love the outdoors and anything green, and I especially love hiking, boating, and four wheeling. I'm also a bit of an adrenaline junkie so skydiving is a goal of mine. Of all the things I love, my family will always hold the dearest place in my heart. I am the oldest of three siblings, with one brother and two sisters. My mom and dad have shaped who I am and have influenced me for good in countless ways. They're my greatest support. My brother taught me to be kind and my sisters taught me to be patient. They are my best friends.

Why I am a Mormon

My grandpa converted to the LDS Church after visiting a Mormon Temple in Salt Lake City with a military group. He felt something different while he was there, and he has been a changed man ever since. I continue in this church because I asked God if this was where I needed to be, and He answered. Though I don't understand everything, I know I am supposed to be here. I know that being here makes me happy. I know that truth lives in this church, because God and Christ are at its' head. I know where I came from, what I'm doing, and where I'm going. I know it. God speaks to His children, and I know am one of them.

How I live my faith

I organize weekly activities for about 10 young adults that live near me. We get together once a week and play games, watch movies, or simply talk and share experiences. The weekly get-together is one of the many ways we attempt to uphold and uplift each another as we struggle being away from home and dealing with college life for the first time. I'm also currently preparing to spend 18 months in Nicaragua serving a Mormon mission. While I'm in Nicaragua I will teach the gospel to people who want to learn more about the church, aid in humanitarian efforts, and strengthen and teach current members.
