Hi I'm Devon

I'm a musician, I'm a swimmer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My favorite hobby is music. I grew up listening to anything that could be considered rock, completely immersing myself in the numerous scenes that have emerged throughout the history of modern music (i.e. British invasion, psychedelia, prog rock, 80s hair bands, Seattle grunge, ska, folk rock, indie... and I even had a metal phase!) I mainly consider myself a guitarist, but I have also picked up the piano, ukulele, bass, drum set, and trombone. I've spent countless hours in garages jamming with my friends, and together we have played many school and church talent shows--we even put on our own garage concert for our families and friends! Also, I love the water. I swam competitively in high school for 3 years, and I continue to swim for exercise and recreation. I have been able to turn this passion into a part-time job, as I have worked as a lifeguard/swim instructor for over a year. Growing up in western Washington has been perfect because I am never too far from the Pacific ocean, the Puget Sound, or one of many beautiful lakes. Here I have enjoyed tubing, skiing, and wake-boarding.

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to be a Mormon because the gospel of Christ brings pure joy and satisfaction into my life. Growing up, I tried many different things in order to find happiness and purpose. However, by following His commandments, I have learned that living my life as a disciple of Christ as outlined in the Book of Mormon and the Bible helps me to experience more joy and satisfaction, as well as find more meaningful purpose for my existence than I would otherwise have.

How I live my faith

The most apparent way I can live my faith is by serving God as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have been assigned to serve the people of Nagoya Japan by teaching gospel lessons and providing whatever service I can. During this assignment, I devote all of my time and energy to the Lord as His representative.
