Hi I'm Audrey Schofield (Shumway)

I'm a small-town AZ girl.I love food, sports, and people.I work part-time as a TA at BYU and full-time as a wife.And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi! I'm Audrey! I was born and raised in a wonderful family who taught me to love the gospel of Christ. My favorite colors are yellow and orange because they're bright and they make people happy! I love laughing, joking, and making friends. I am a student at Brigham Young University and I'm lovin' the heck out of it! I love sports - both watching and playing them - all of them. I love outdoorsy stuff like hiking, fishing, and spelunking. I love to sing and act. I also love to dance even though I am not as good at that, but I wholeheartedly wish that I was. I love playing games. Especially board games and card games. Monopoly and Nertz are my favorites! Food is one of my best friends and ice cream and french fries are my favorite food groups of all time. I couldn't imagine a life without Disney movies, the original ones are the best. I wish I enjoyed reading more - I think it's one of the coziest-looking things: reading in a lounge chair, cuddling with a blanket...just simplicity. I served a Spanish-speaking mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Kansas and I loved being able to share the truth that I know so openly and boldly with other children of God. Upon my return, I married my best friend, Eric, and now we're doing life together!! Working, going to school, and loving each other.

Why I am a Mormon

I LOVE being a Mormon. I really, really do. This gospel is the best thing about me. It IS me. It fills me with such incomprehensible joy! I love this gospel because it helps me understand who I am. I am a daughter of God; a daughter of a heavenly king; a princess. My Heavenly Father loves me and wants me to be happy. The comfort that comes from knowing we all have a loving Father in Heaven who knows us personally cannot be matched by anything of this world. Because He loves us, he sent His Son, Jesus Christ to the Earth to be our example and to be our Savior. He suffered for us all so that we could return to live with our loving Heavenly Father again. I am so grateful for the knowledge of His atoning sacrifice in my life, that through Him I can reach my full potential and be forgiven of all of my shortcomings. I know that Joseph Smith restored the gospel that Jesus Christ himself taught when he was on the Earth. I know that through the power of God, Joseph Smith translated the ancient text of the Book of Mormon. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and contains the fulness of Christ's gospel. I have come to know for myself that this book is sacred and inspired. As I have shared my testimony with others, I have felt the Spirit of God witness to me the truthfulness of it. It has taught me about my Savior and continues to bring me closer to Him as I read. One of my favorite things about the teachings of this church is that it's all about YOU. What I mean by that is, it's all up to you. No one tells you what to believe or who to believe, but sincere, personal, individual testimony is always shared. Those investigating this church are constantly encouraged to read the Book of Mormon and pray to know for themselves what is true. I bear you my witness that I know if you sincerely do that, Heavenly Father will, through his Spirit, bear witness to you of its truth. I know that this is the only true, complete, and living gospel of our Savior, Jesus Christ. I know.

How I live my faith

I am in a Single's Ward here at Brigham Young University and it is lots of fun! I am currently serving as an Activities Committee member so I plan the ward activities that the whole ward gets to participate in. I love this assignment! I love that something that I plan and am a part of can bring my ward members together and help us get to know one another as friends and as children of our Heavenly Father while also having a ton of fun. I am also a visiting teacher which means I get the special privilege of teaching and getting to know two wonderful woman in my ward on a (at least) monthly basis. I love attending my church meetings and Family Home Evening activities and feeling the strength of other members of the church. They continuously uplift me and help me learn more about Christ and His gospel and make me want to be better.
