Hi I'm Matt Chandler

I was born in NC. I am home schooled. I play guitar (electric). Random fact: I enjoy eating cereal at any time.

About Me

Lets start with music. Music is a big part of my life. I enjoy listening to all types of music, even foreign. I guess listening to all kinds of music helps me to emotionally receive the message through the song. My favorite kind of music is rock, or christian rock. I feel that every (decent) song has an emotion, message, and purpose behind it. Im not a fan of mainstream pop music. I feel it doesnt show any of these properties that real music should have. A person once said to me "you should believe what you feel is right, and let no one take that agency from you". I applied this to music, and ever since then I chose what music I listen to. The radio kind of takes away that agency in a way. Moving on, I play guitar, soccer, and this game called League of Legends on computer.

Why I am a Mormon

So I had a few friends who were Mormons, but I never really asked about what they believed, and they never brought it up. One of them decided to send the missionaries to our house. These missionaries were so cool, like really cool. I always thought that they were thoughtless robots knocking door to door, but i was WRONG. On mondays they had a day off from being missionaries and relax, but they spent the whole day with us. I remember that they used to bring little caesar's and play a board game with us.One of these elders actually was into the same video games I was, and I felt like he was me, but a few years older, in a way.I could relate to him, and I instantly had a connection with him. He was my friend. My family met with the missionaries a few more times. They discussed things that made sense (the atonement, why we go to church, what missionaries do etc etc). Eventually we all got baptized on the same day, and have been active ever since. I guess i haven't really said why I'm still Mormon. When i learned that God loves me, and that he laid out commandments for us to live, and how we can live with Him again, I never wanted to fall apart from the true church of God. So basically I learned the most amazing thing I can do in this life (become worthy to enter the kingdom of God), there is no reason why I would fall away from the church, or become inactive. I testify that this is the true church of God, joseph smith restored the church, and that God loves us and wants us to return to him.

How I live my faith

I'm a hometeacher, Priest, and an active youth in my ward. My job as a hometeacher is to visit the homes of members, teach them a short lesson, and see how they're doing. I like to be good friends with the members of my ward. As a Priest, my duties are to preach, teach, expound, exhort, and baptize, and administer the sacrament, plus the duties of Teachers and Deacons. (D&C 20:46)

What is faith?

Matt Chandler
To have faith is to "hope for things which are not seen, which are true" (Alma 32:21). We as a society have faith everyday, but might not be able to see it. For example, a student would have faith that he/she passed a test. Whether or not the student is able to see his/her faith, it exists. Faith in God is more to have a belief in Him. To have faith in God is to trust him, and be willing to act on your belief in Him. Show more Show less
