Hi I'm Kelly

I'm a mom to 5 boys! Our home is loud, busy and boy do they eat a lot! I love being a mom to boys! I'm a mormon

About Me

I love having a house full of boys. Teenage boys are so witty and fun. It helps that I love to cook because I feel so loved when I cook a big meal or make treats and my boys are so grateful. I also love to quilt and have recently started quilting sample quilts for our local quilt shop. It's great fun to wander through the quilt shop and pick whatever fabric I want to use. I am paid for my time with the fabrics I use. My husband and I also love to watch BBC TV series. We feel like we've discovered a whole new library of great shows. Our newest favorite is Foyle's War. I live in a suburban neighborhood and spend my afternoons running kids to sports and music lessons. My life isn't perfect and has its own frustrations, but I wouldn't trade places with anyone.

Why I am a Mormon

I was first a Mormon because my parents are and that is what I was taught. By the age of 14 or 15, I had developed my own testimony through prayer, reading the scriptures, attending church meetings and keeping the commandments. I can still remember the very occasion when I really knew that I had a testimony and that the Church of Jesus Christ was the true church. I was attending a dedication session of the Jordan River Utah Temple. I was singing a song we often sing, "The Spirit of God." I was completely overwhelmed with a burning sensation inside and the I could not resist crying. I knew without any doubt the truthfulness of the gospel. I have had many, many other spiritual experiences which have "cemented" my testimony. I KNOW IT IS TRUE!

How I live my faith

I serve in my Ward Relief Society. This means that I coordinate "watchcare" for the women and families in our ward. I know that no one person can care for the needs of all the members of our ward so we all work together to provide for the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of our fellow women members and their families. I teach Sunday lessons in church occasionally and plan social events about quarterly. Most importantly, I pray for their welfare by name as I am aware of their struggles. I also serve on our local Scout Committee for the Boy Scouts of America. Since I am a mom to 5 sons, this should come as no surprise. I've been working on our Scout Committee for 14 years now. Currently, I track all the advancement of our 30+ scouts. I also occasionally serve on the Eagle Boards of Review for our Regional scout committee. I also serve as a Visiting Teacher. This means at least once a month, I schedule an appointment and visit 4 different women in their homes. I deliver a spiritual message and check on their well-being. We also typically enjoy a fun visit for 30-60 minutes. I have developed some of my dearest friends through this program.
