Hi I'm Courtney

I grew up in Arizona. I am studying broadcast journalism at Brigham Young University. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Growing up I loved to be involved in anything and everything! In high school I was involved in serving my classmates through student council as class president and student body vice president. I love to ski, play piano, play tennis, spend time with family, cook, run, travel, and watch the sun set in Arizona. I love meeting new people and making people smile!

Why I am a Mormon

There are many churches out there. What makes this one right? I know that this church is absolutely true because it is more than just philosophy or motivation to "live a good life." There is literally a power that I feel from this church that is not found anywhere else. I have personally felt this power in my life, and I can't imagine where I'd be without it. When I was thirteen my dad passed away in a plane crash. He was my best friend and role model, and it has been devastating to endure the roller coaster of life without him. There have been times in life where I felt alone, misunderstood, trapped, forgotten, neglected and helpless. Those times turned me to my Savior Jesus Christ. I know that He is my brother and that He suffered for me. I know that only He has power to heal every wound and make everything right in the end. Only Christ can make me feel whole and complete. To come closer to Him I follow his example of charity and virtue. I also have come to know my Heavenly Father. I know that through following the commandments of God He has become more than deity to me. As I walk in faith as His daughter, He is my Father. My testimony of these things is what makes life meaningful. It is not something I tell myself is true to be a "cushion" through adversity. It is more than merely hope. I know it because because I have studied and prayed about the teachings in the Book of Mormon, translated by the modern prophet Joseph Smith. I have sought to know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith in a peaceful grove in upstate New York and instructed him to restore the gospel of Jesus Christ to this earth in its fullness. You cannot know something is real unless you feel it. I do not center my life around my faith. My faith IS my life. I am so grateful for it and wouldn't trade it for anything. I would even die to defend the truth. My relationship with God brings more joy than I could ever imagine--especially at the time that my dad passed away.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being a representative of Jesus Christ in my interactions with other people. I participate in church by volunteering to speak, teach, or visit those in need. These things add joy into my life!
