Hi I'm Nate Henrie

I grew up in Idaho, am the youngest of 3 boys, currently go to school at Utah State University, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Nate. I am currently going to college before I go and serve my mission. I love to run and bike on the trail system right off campus and being outside with my friends, especially if we're playing a game of ultimate frisbee. During the winter I try to go hit the ski slopes as much as possible and have been skiing and snowboarding for years. Since I work out as much as I do I eat a lot, which is good because I love to eat! I love pro cycling and when asked what my favorite professional sport is, that's the answer I give. My favorite team in the peloton is the British outfit, Team Sky. I like staying up late watching movies or TV shows, and don't like waking up early to go to class and work like most college students.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? Both of my parents have been active members of the Church their whole life and I was raised going to church every week, reading my scriptures and praying everyday. However, after so long I had to decide whether I was going to keep doing those things because they told me too or because I wanted to. In high school I would get left home alone quite a bit, especially during track season, and my parents wouldn't be there to make sure I got up and got to church on time. But every time that my parents left me home alone I would find myself at church 10 minutes before it started because I love being there. The people there helped me feel the Spirit and I just felt so good and happy and at peace while I was there. It became a highlight of me week and somewhere where I wanted to be because I wanted to feel those feeling listed previously of happiness and at peace. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and testifies of Christ, like the Bible. I know that Jesus Christ lives today and that he is always looking out for us and trying to help us in our everyday lives. I've felt His guiding influence in my in my life as He helps me and also as he directs me to help others.

How I live my faith

In my ward on campus, which is comprised of other students, I am in charge of organizing the people of my ward to meet together once a week on Monday night for Family Home Evening (FHE) where we play games, eat food, socialize and have a message about living the Gospel and how important it is. I attend my weekly church meetings every chance I get and love being their and associating with my friends who share similar standards and beliefs with me.

What is the priesthood?

Nate Henrie
The priesthood is the authority to act in God's name. It is given to worthy men over the age of 12. You have to be interviewed by Church leaders to determine if you are worthy to receive the priesthood and once you hold the priesthood, you have to remain worthy to be able to act in God's name. Those who have the priesthood are responsible to lead the church, minister to those around them, bless those in need or those who might be sick, and to show respect to those around them.
