Hi I'm Katie

I grew up in the United States. I teach 5th grade. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah with 2 younger brothers and my parents. When I graduated high school, I attended a year of college. Following this, I took a semester off of school to do a Disney Internship, where I worked at DisneyWorld. I returned home and got married. We have been married for 5 years. I now teach 5th grade (kids ages 10-11). In my spare time, you can find me taking pictures of others and the world around me. I have a passion for music. I am always trying to teach myself a new instrument. When I was a little girl I always dreamed of being a ballerina. I still love dance. My brothers, husband and I love snow boarding. Every weekend in the winter you will be sure to find us on the mountain. In the summer, you will also find us on the mountain, just mountain biking instead.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know this church is true. My father was a convert when he was young. Not all of his family are members, so I grew up with others who didn't live the same style of life I did. As I grew up, I saw their search for fulfillment and satisfaction. They were always trying to find something to make them happy. To this day, some of them are still trying to find things that make them feel something. I found that something in the Gospel. When I was 19 years old I left Utah, the only home I have known, to work in DisneyWorld. I was shell shocked. I had never lived outside of the state, never been to a party with alcohol, never been in a situation that I was the only one standing up for what I believed in. In a nutshell, I had never had to question or stand up for my beliefs before. As I struggled with loneliness, anger, worry, and fear I found peace in the Gospel. I found the courage to continue being brave, I found the happiness that came from living my life the way God wanted me to live. Now I am older. I am a Mormon today because I know that this Gospel is the way back to Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving the women in my area. I am in charge of organizing all the Sunday meetings and making sure I am aware of all the women's needs. I visit 3 ladies a month with other women in my ward. I also love to participate in my ward choir and play musical numbers for our Sunday meetings.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

As a lover of photography, I am always amazed at the beauty of the earth. I look at the sun as it shines through the clouds, the stars as they twinkle, waves as the crash along the sand, leaves blowing in the breeze and know that there is a God. I feel the love that He has for us, as His children, everyday as I watch my 5th grade students walk through the door of my classroom. Show more Show less
