Hi I'm Bruce

I grew up on a row crop farm in Northern California. I love to fish. I love to scuba dive too.

About Me

I am a retired dentist. I love to scuba dive and fly fish. Whenever I travel I like to be sure there is a place to fish for some of the time that I am there. I have a beautiful wife and six great kids. They are all married and all have children of their own. I love being a grandpa.

Why I am a Mormon

My mother has always been a member of the Church. My Dad joined when I was 3 years old. As I grew up I enjoyed friendship with lot's of other kids my age. Since I am the youngest of 3 it was like having more brothers and sisters when I attended young folks programs and youth groups later. In my young teenage years I had a teacher at church who challenged me to study and pray about the church to know for myself if it was true instead if just relying on my parents faith. I took him up on his challenge and when out behind our home one night and did as he recommended: pray until you experience a feeling from the Lord that you know for sure that this church is true. I had that experience--a warm peaceful feeling deep in my heart that was unquestionable to me that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was indeed the Lord's true church. I have never looked back. I served as a missionary for 2 years in New Zealand leaving behind the love of my life--my fiance Alicia--who had a similar testimony and agreed I should serve the Lord before we married. So 5 weeks after my return we married in the Los Angeles Temple. I have since served in numerous callings in the church and each has strengthened my conviction that Jesus is the Christ. I know he is my Savior and Redeemer. I love Him with all my heart and am happy to serve my fellowman as I know He would. This still fills my heart with warmth and peace.

How I live my faith

For Sunday activity these days my wife and I attend church at a Hmong branch of our church. She has learned to speak some Hmong, but I teach young people and they all speak better English than I do. So I have just learned to say hello and goodbye in Hmong. We do visit with many of the families in their homes and find them to be a loving and gracious people. Each Friday we dive to Sacramento to help in the temple there. We get to meet and work with a lot of great people there too.

What do Mormons believe happens to us after we die? What do Mormons believe about life after death?

The joy of this life is knowing that there is a whole lot more life to be lived after we die. All this comes because Jesus opened to grave for all mankind. Show more Show less
